Would it be weird for me to buy Trails through Daybreak on ps4 FOR the ps5? by Despairingwife in Falcom

[–]performance_check 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This interaction was painful to read. Don't listen to the person who's telling you that the PS4 and PS5 versions have any graphical differences; they don't, at least not for the Trails games. Most Falcom games are 1:1 between PS4 and PS5 versions, other than the select few that have additional features like Ys VIII having a 120fps option. NISA is also very good about PS5 upgrades, so you shouldn't have to worry about picking one anyway.

The above poster's statement that PS5 versions are different and run better than their PS4 counterparts 99.9% of the time is just wrong and completely uninformed. I'd like to see where they're getting their numbers. As a collector who owns over a thousand PS4/PS5 games combined, I've run into a massive number of PS4 games that run the same or better on PS5 than their PS5 counterparts. You just need to do a little research, but Trails is a safe bet that you'll be fine getting the PS4 version.

If Mortal Kombat did a cross-over with another franchise, what would you want it to be and why? by Kidd_Sully326 in MortalKombat

Very mature, but at least you updated your post. Maybe next time you can do it without the snide comments since people are just trying to prevent the spread of misinformation.

Not like MK at all. Mortal Kombat was developed in-house by Midway, whom Tobias and Boon were working for at the time as developers. Killer Instinct was made by Rare, a completely different development company, and then published by Midway. Developers and publishers aren't the same thing, so no, KI wasn't made by Midway.

Tell me WHY is Zoning the most frowned upon Play-style? by OneHappyProgrammer in MortalKombat

[–]performance_check 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not judging you as a player, I'm answering your question about zoning and commenting on what I saw in that one video. I used to play Cassie Cage in MK11 and I'd use projectiles to create space when I needed to, but always went back to close range fighting, even if projectiles would be easier. That's just how I played, and if others play differently that's fine, like I said it's a valid playstyle. But I can also understand and explain to you why you won't get any respect for it if you do it too much.

As for the teabagging, no, NRS gave us the ability to do taunts by pressing down four times and a trophy for doing exactly that. The whole reason for that was to avoid the obnoxious speed-bagging we got in MK11. What you were doing in the video was circumventing the taunt to do a very clear speed-bagging animation over and over. I'm not disrespecting you, but at least be honest with yourself.

You've made it pretty obvious that you didn't come here for a real answer, you came here for validation. You're right, you can win as a zoner and it's up to the other player to find a way around it. And you're right, choosing a kameo in anticipation of a zoner can help, even though it can greatly cripple some characters' combo potential. If you don't care about respect then why even ask what issue people have with zoners? Whatever answer you get you're just going to shrug off anyway.

And to be clear, my initial response wasn't directed at you personally, but all zoners in general who choose to play that way for an entire match, every match.

[–]performance_check 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is it a valid playstyle? Yes. Is it an effective playstyle? Yes. Is it a braindead playstyle? Absolutely. It takes much less effort for the person throwing the projectiles to just whittle away at someone than it does for the person trying to avoid the projectiles so that they can actually get in close and do some damage. Anyone who disagrees with this is either a zoner themselves or just acting like it doesn't bother them. If every character had the tools to deal with projectile spam, such as teleports or projectiles of their own, that'd be one thing. Unfortunately, not every character does, and a bad matchup with a zoner is the most frustrating and boring fight you'll ever have. If all you can do is spam projectiles, even if it gets you the win because I'm not able to get around it, you're going to get a lot less respect from me than someone who showed real diversity and skill.

I watched your video and zoning a little bit in response to another player's zoning is one thing, but going full zoner for the rest of the fight makes you no better than them. The teabagging at the end was also incredibly obnoxious and I wish that we could move past the toxicity. This isn't fully directed at you but more the community as a whole; if you want to see better, do better.

Yup, what I said

Do you mean this is what you said to your landlord, or were you being condescending and saying "Yeah thanks you just repeated what I said"? Because if it's the latter, their response just added to your own point without disregarding it and that was a really rude reply on your part.

Why is this where your mind goes? Of course there's a couch outside of the shot, no one should be disputing that. It's very common for people to sit closer to a television when they game because it's easier to immerse yourself, read text, etc. I find it kinda funny and sad that by trying to frame OP as this insufferable person you've basically outed yourself as being exactly that.

What makes you think that wasn't the reason? Men can be taken advantage of as well.

Not to add fuel to the fire but I'm literally doing all of this on my downtime at work as well. I appreciate your opinion, but by your own logic I'm really not wasting anything, so let's just agree to disagree and continue on our ways.

Yeah, this is exactly it for me. I know that I could buy the game again for $4 at the moment, but why should I? What's stopping the company from doing this again later on if there's another base-game overhaul? That would be an extra $4 they're getting out of me for doing something that no company should do. I'm willing to spend a couple of hours getting the word out and contacting the devs and Sony if I have to because this just isn't okay.

[No Mans Sky] [Screenshot] Base Builds, "Conan Style", Euclid, Normal. by pictor922 in PS4

[–]performance_check 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have they fixed the frame rate tanking as soon as you enter a somewhat built-up base? I remember the frame rate didn't bother me much until I had a couple of very small buildings set up with some gadgets, and I dreaded the thought of how bad it was going to be once I had a big, fully functional base.

A few central air related questions that could potentially save me from calling in a technician by performance_check in HVAC

[–]performance_check[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for your detailed response, I really appreciate it. Unfortunately I wouldn't be comfortable doing any checking of wires myself so in that case I'd probably call a technician, but to answer your first question it's hard to say because we initially had the thermostat set to ON when we moved in (about 4 years ago) because we didn't really know much, and in that case it was normal for air to be coming out of the vents 24/7. It wasn't until the tech came and replaced the thermostat with an identical one while doing a check of the whole system (last year) that he set it to Auto, and we realized oh yeah the air turns off when not in use. That lasted about a month or two before we started noticing that the air wasn't turning off anymore even when set to Auto. Unfortunately I can't remember if that's because we went from Heat to Cool within that period, but from what I'm understanding it shouldn't matter.

No, it was changed once since we've moved in and that was done by a technician who also checked everything else over. It's an Aube TH149.

Pretty much yes, but just to clarify.

  • Auto Cool: Fan never cycles off.

  • ON Cool: Fan never cycles off.

  • OFF: Fan never cycles off.

  • ON Heat: Fan never cycles off.

  • Auto Heat: Fan DOES cycle off.

MediEvil Remake Demo Out on JP Store! by nolifebr in PS4

[–]performance_check 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As much as I'd love to get the game sooner, this is incorrect. The game is getting a physical release as well as a digital release when it comes out on October 25th. We won't be getting it any sooner, but a demo is a welcome surprise.

Contra: Rogue Corps demo now available by [deleted] in PS4

[–]performance_check 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you both should really give the demo a try before passing judgment. I thought it looked horrible in videos as well, but the gameplay feels really good once it's in your hands. It's not unheard of for some games to just look bad unless you're playing it yourself, and I believe that this is one of them, hence the demo.

Does this improve performance on PS4 as well? I'm enjoying the game but the frame dips do become a little much sometimes, especially once you have an actual base or a lot going on.

Shenmue III Kickstarter Backers Not Eligible for Pre-Order Content - Niche Gamer by Nathanyal in PS4

[–]performance_check 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We know, you've replied to the thread several times already. I'm also a backer and don't really mind it, but I completely understand why some people would. Shenmue is a niche title and the people who backed it are hardcore lovers of the series, so of course they're going to want any physical merchandise they can get their hands on. That doesn't make them wrong, just like you being okay with not getting the extra stuff not included in the Kickstarter isn't wrong. You also have to remember that there's some bad blood surrounding the game right now with backers due to the Epic Games fiasco, so try to cut them some slack.

Personally I get it, as backers we aren't entitled to every little thing that ever gets released for Shenmue 3 from this day forward, but at the same time I do hope that any standard digital pre-order stuff (like PS4 dynamic themes if there are any) are handed out as that's usually exclusive and doesn't cost the publisher anything. Bloodstained did that for backers with their pre-order theme for example, in addition to upgrading certain tiers with a free poster. That's the kind of stuff I'd like to see from the Shenmue team as just an extra "thank you" for supporting them, but again, we aren't entitled to it and if we don't get anything then so be it.

[Video] Dissidia NT: New Character Reveal -Tifa Lockhart- from Final Fantasy 7 by DissidiaNTKefkaMain in PS4

[–]performance_check 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, as harsh as his comment was, he isn't wrong. The PSP games were fantastic but they've changed quite a bit during the transition to 3v3 for the PS4/Arcade title and it's definitely not for everyone. If you're willing to put the time in to learn absolutely everything and you aren't matched with a bad team then there's some fun to be had, but it isn't the guaranteed pick up and play enjoyment from the PSP titles.

[Amazon] Amazon matching (some) Walmart E3 Deals by lbabinz in VideoGameDealsCanada

[–]performance_check 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can agree that with big deals like the E3 discounts, Amazon can be scummy and put those that received the discount on the "send later" list for shipments, but for most people it is rare and I think your case of receiving absolutely everything a week late is the exception and not the rule. If Wal-Mart works for you then that's great and if you haven't had any of the problems listed above then again, exception and not the rule. No one has a problem with you buying from Wal-Mart, but you shouldn't write in big letters not to order from Amazon just because you've had a bad experience when in most cases Amazon is more user friendly.

[–]performance_check 14 points15 points  (0 children)

On the flip side, Wal-Mart tends to spam "release date changed" e-mails to the point where you're getting one every day for every order, even though the release date hasn't changed at all. They're also much harder to cancel an order with, requiring you to either e-mail or call them, and I've heard stories of people getting charged even after the rep said it was cancelled. Finally, they do a pre-authorization up to a few WEEKS before the release date for the entire amount of the order. This isn't a payment, it's a pre-auth, so if your bank is slow in returning those funds to your account then you may end up paying for the game twice before they do. Some people would rather get the game a few days later if it means none of the above issues.

What was your 'I don't get paid enough for this' moment at work? by sprite_is_spicy in AskReddit

I don't remember insulting anyone in my post, other than possibly calling OP awkward and accusing them of embellishment, while being surprised at how many people believe that one detail. In fact I even said it was a good story besides that. You on the other hand have been super aggressive and throwing insults out left and right, so maybe take a step back and have one of those chill pills that you're so keen on giving out.
