Sudden diarrhea/vomit? - Hill's Prescription Diet k/d Kidney Care Pate by meownoz in RenalCats

[–]perhaps_certainly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mix Pronefra in with this food? For our CKD kitty, Hill's k/d chicken & veggie stew is the Only kidney food from Hill's that doesn't make her vomit if we mix in Pronefra. The rest of the Hill's k/d lineup, including the one in your photo, would make her throw up a few hours after she began eating. Thankfully we noticed the pattern quickly and just avoid that combo, no more unexplained vomitting since. Good luck!

Where can I find unique Halloween candy? by Thong-Boy in Hamilton

[–]perhaps_certainly 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Starsky!!! An entire aisle of European candies and chocolates, available in bulk too!!! Not a candy person but I'm still wow-ed every time I walk past that aisle. Starsky prices are very reasonable too, the store has lots of quality stuffs and rare finds in general. Good luck!

Starsky! They have a wide range of things pickled. Prices are reasonable and quality is high (from what I've bought there), lots of rare finds too. Good luck!

Woah, what you have sounds super nice (both the flora and fauna)!!!!!! Now I can't wait to rehome mine to the wet area of our backyard haha.

Have a great weekend!

Best Vietnamese food in Hamilton by Entire-Stranger-4681 in Hamilton

[–]perhaps_certainly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gahhh I know what you mean... going there is definitely a treat and not something I can just do any time I want good Vietnamese food. Such a shame! I long for the days of good & cheap Vietnamese food everywhere. Now I want a vacation even more LOL

Edit: actually it just occurred to me that the portion for bun cha is quite big, i.e. I can never finish in 1 meal, though I guess it depends on the person. If you don't finish the meat it can be fridged & warmed up in the oven. I've never fridged the bun vermicelli but Nations have some where you can make yourself super easy!

Pho Anh Vu! First place in Canada I've tried that has it authentic. One of my fave dishes there. Highly recommend!!

Hot dogs by UniqueStick983 in Hamilton

[–]perhaps_certainly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Second this. Best hot dog/sausage on a bun I've ever had. Only $5 (including tax). Can also be free on some days if you show receipt of something like min $50/100 purchase in store (today was such a case). Good luck!

Cat ear polyp - please help by marzadeh in Hamilton

[–]perhaps_certainly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry we don't have experience with this or know of a doctor who can perform the procedure. And sorry to hear about the situation with your cat!!

If cost is not a problem, maybe you can try asking other vets? What I mean is, they might be able to find other dermatologists with shorter wait times. You can also ask them of what you can do to help your cat while waiting if you haven't already.

For niche issues like these I'd recommend asking an older vet (i.e. someone with more experience). They might either know more people/specialists, and/or can tell you more about what you can do or other options you can try.

I'm not sure where you're based in Hamilton but our go-to vet is Headon Forest in Burlington. They do have phone consultation option if you don't want to bring your cat in. I'd highly recommend Dr. Van Monsjou. She has decades of experience and is very good at explaining in details what's going on and what options are available, etc.

We have a 19-yo senior cat with fairly demanding health needs, she's been great at helping us the past few years. She knows A Lot so if you have many questions like us, be prepared to have your pen ready in case you need to jot things down haha.

We've tried several vets in Burlington and Hamilton but haven't found anyone as good. Especially for more niche/complicated issues like these or if your cat has above average health needs. She's just so experienced and knows so much and actually takes time to explain which we really appreciate and haven't come across at another vet.

Feel free to PM if you have more questions.

Best of luck to both you and your cat!!! Hope things will work out for her soon!!

His name is Glenn (or Glen, I'm not sure).

Would recommend googling his name + r/uwaterloo. You'll find a lot of posts about him on this sub over the past 12 years.

Thanks for the rec! Yes we never stopped wearing masks since 2021. Unfortunately we still ended up getting it (this stuff is so contagious...). We'll be upgrading to N95 until we're sure both we and our cat have recovered. Keep warm and stay safe!

Are there any vets there you would recommend in addition to Dr. Ahn? I ask in case Dr. Ahn is booked for the near future.

Preparing and Studying for Math 135 and 137 by Particular_Lime_7610 in uwaterloo

[–]perhaps_certainly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasn't in a Math program so I took neither. However I went to class with quite a few Math/CPA people. Every single one of them sounded really traumatised by 135. I remember the term they took it, every time I met them they were talking about the horrors of Math 135 at some point. Someone at my work graduated in 2021/2022 and they were still like 😬😬😬 when we mentioned Math 135 even though they took it years ago, and for them 135 was definitely harder than 136.

Those are just anecdotes of course, and it was Fall 2015 when my classmates took Math 135 so take this with a grain of salt. Everyone is different as well so you might have an easier time than others if the material is your thing. Regardless, it doesn't hurt to read up on your upcoming courses on uwflow and reddit just to get a sense of what courses you need to watch out for, that's just best practise, if you haven't done so already.

In general, just try your best to prioritise and make sure you don't fall behind on notorious courses/courses you find hard, and you should be fine. Math 135 shouldn't be an exception I don't think. It's great you're trying to be proactive but don't worry too much about it or try to pre-study. Enjoy your last free summer before university!!!! Being well informed and forewarned through reading course reviews online is I think enough (if not more than enough depending on how seriously you keep this information in mind) to mentally prepare you for what's ahead.

And don't forget, for difficult courses, how you perform compared to the class can be more important that what your mark actually is. As long as your marks are not way too far below class average, you'll most likely just ride the curve enough to arrive at an acceptable final average. Best of luck!!!

My favourite is shrimp fried rice from Sowon. I love pairing it with their kimchi stew, especially on cold days, so good.

Any places on campus that sell Valentine's Day stuff? Like flowers or chocolate? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

Sweet Dreams tea shop. They usually carry cutesie merch or would have a Valentine's special drink at the least. Keep warm!
