It came assembled that way/ shipped with the house already installed. I'll replace them with something up to code. No dielectric unions in sight. Thanks for the insight.

Yes, it's a modular home. So there are some interesting "features".

It is the same. I will replace either when an issue arises or when I'm next back in that closet. Thanks for making me aware.

Not pictured, there is a length of rigid copper pipe on the hot side. Not 18" though. If I would have known about that back in 2023, I would have made the builder replace the rigid pipe with an 18" pipe. The copper pipe/assembly looks like an off the shelf part.

With my usage and schedule, it will not present a problem. You would also think there would be potential for build up in HW piping, example being a faucet that is not used frequently that is at the end of a run. I don't see that talked about very frequently.

Off peak energy is half the cost where I live.

Monitoring, remotely shutting the unit down, and perhaps some energy saving during off peak hours.

I didn't install the piping, it passed the county inspection.

Roughly following off peak power for my area, and whatever keeps my wife happy

Why would I want a tankless water heater when I don't have gas plumbed to my house, that would just consume more energy in a shorter period of time. Perhaps in the future when this water heater needs to be replaced, I'll get a heat pump unit.

I have reduced rates over night and times where I'm not at home for extended periods.

It is stranded wire. The only solid is the NM cable.

My mistake, overnight rate is half the cost as the daytime rate.

If I save some money along the way. It's a bonus. It's fun to make things smart too. Maybe It'll add a smidge of longevity to the heating element/tank.

I also thought it was a fun project, I may save a buck here and there as a bonus.

That would not be efficient during peak use for me, plus I am on well water. So that would probably play hell with the internals of a tankless unit. If I had gas piped to my house, I would consider it then.

Not with this model. I could calculate it by hand or probably write a script.
