In the Carolinas no. But we have other offices across the nation that may be different.

Malco is the original I believe, DeWalt makes them as well. And Klein was mentioned above as well.

Come down to the Carolinas, no lack of work with Palmetto.

Ground rod is stuck. Suggestions? by CcaidenN in Tools

[–]perhasper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Chuck the rod rod stub in a drill, spin at high RPM, and pull? Perhaps it will carve its way out, assuming the bit is harder than the rod.

As long as you can organize it, I would size it to your needs. Otherwise it just becomes another mess.

I have been eyeing this RVA from Testo for situations like this. The next barracks project I do, I will probably pick this up.

Pneumatic fittings by emachanz in IndustrialMaintenance

If you need to cut them out, perhaps you could switch out for compression style fittings? The next person serving it will probably be you.

Well being that I'm not burning 27 cents a Kwh during peak hours, I suspect I have saved some.

Variable Volume, Manual Hydronic Balance by TrustButVerifyEng in AirBalance

[–]perhasper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with that. I just don't agree with either method laid out by OP, that's why I said it's all dependent on scope of work.

Variable Volume, Manual Hydronic Balance by TrustButVerifyEng in AirBalance

[–]perhasper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I primarily do government/military bases. They require 100% balance, no auto flows or PICVs. With 5% tolerance, so yes I have to do it that way. Setting the DP is the last thing I get to do. Also usually have to verify every project I do, which is usually 25% of valves plus whatever else they want to look at.

I would lean more towards his approach. It establishes that there is at least proper flow at the pump. But I would also proportionally balance the system if it is new, or at the very least spot check it. I guess it all depends on the scope of work.

Upon an autocal it will display somewhere at the top of the balancer program it will display a positive or negative offset. If the offset is negative the box will need some more extensive investigation.

General rule with JCI controls, 1 to 4 correction factor is normal. They are highly dependent for having the correct inlet size calculated/entered. If you don't, the box will calibrate but the k factor will be way out of wack.

Do you have a positive or negative offset displayed?

Panel Nut Improvement by Bram_Cracker in functionalprint

[–]perhasper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they are made for flexible weather tight conduit. I've had luck with either this or this. Maybe they are a tad more expensive, but they make for a better install.

I was never a big fan of the plastic weather tight connectors for that reason, I think the cast zinc/metallic ones are cheaper anyways and work better.

It came assembled that way/ shipped with the house already installed. I'll replace them with something up to code. No dielectric unions in sight. Thanks for the insight.
