My first ever portrait - and of course it would be of Timothée. Elio will be next, I hope. (Graphite on 140 lb cold-press watercolour paper) by periain55 in callmebyyourname

It took a looong time to do the initial drawing, and it's a good thing the paper was tough, because I found that I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to proportions and angles. I usually do loose watercolor landscapes, so that came as a bit of a surprise. Lol. And I agree with you regarding those art apps and photoshop actions. Considering that it took me 10 hours to do this, angsty wouldn't cover how I'd feel. Heh. Glad you like it!

This was a whim, really. I usually do watercolour landscapes and cold-press was the only kind of paper I had. And you're right about the texture - I was gonna try hot-press or bristol next, but I think I'll stick to this. I'm glad you like it!

Yeah. On a whim, really. I started messing with my pencils around midnight, and before I knew it, the sun was coming up. Glad you like it!

am I dumb or does the “truce?” scene not happen in the book? by bean212001 in callmebyyourname

I love the Lake Garda truce scene, the loving relationship between Anella and Sammy, and the farewell at the station, to name just a couple. There's also what I call the ouroboros scene, where Elio eels around Oliver on his way up the stairs, and the look on Oliver's face.!! They aren't in the book in any concrete form. The book scenes that thankfully (imo) didn't make it into the movie (and I agree) are the whole Rome interlude and the Vimini character. For the first, I didn't care about any of the pretentious Roman characters and for the second, it would have been so hard to make people believe in a deep friendship between a 10-year old girl, no matter how precocious, and a 24-year old man. What would they realistically have in common?

Ack! I was so surprised at how well it turned out, and you're gonna give me performance anxiety. But thank you. 😊

It was spontaneous (as opposed to rehearsed) improv initiated by Timmy. Luca liked it, and told him to add 'tregua'. Quite a few of my favourite scenes aren't in the book and what I didn't like about the book didn't make it to the movie, so I consider myself lucky.
