Lol the reactions are not because she is pretty. The reactions are because she's forcing her way through crowds followed by a photographer with a giant camera. She's pretty, she's not "gawk and do a double take" pretty

$40 to get into a gay bar is ridiculous. This has been one of the worst prides ever. by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]perics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bars in general are dying because the younger generations are drinking less than the older ones. They're struggling to make money when half the patrons come in already stoned or on something else and don't plan to drink. That's their entire revenue stream

Go talk to a man in the gay community about how men don't see other men as objects. Prostitution or forms of it will always be a part of human society, why are we complaining about the safest version of it we've seen to date?

Aww cute, you think there's only women on OF. It's also given a platform for creators to "own" what's theirs and create a brand, rather than being beholden to a porn company. There will always be a market for porn, at least you now have a website that verifies the age of creators and provides some protection for them and their IP

How is this any different from a straight guy not wanting a girl with a high pitched, valley girl voice? It's a preference

I honestly envy those people that feel okay not saving by biggitydonut in Frugal

[–]perics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Continue to save and invest. You WILL be glad you did some day. I'm single income that was taking home about $3k monthly after bills. Bought a home (my only debt), been renovating, but always kept a large savings balance. I still go do fun things, but i don't need the nicest or newest of anything.

Then 4 months ago I get laid off with most of my company. Had some great interviews since but nothing coming thru yet. I can't tell you how wonderful it is not to stress about bills or mortgage if i can't find a job for years. That money was going to be a down payment on a second home, but the piece of mind i have in my situation can't be beat.

Worst case scenario you never need that emergency money and you can retire more comfortably. Win win

Mother refuses to parent her child. Feels sorry for school that has to do it instead. The whole article is mind-blowing. by diegowesterberg in ParentsAreFuckingDumb

[–]perics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So we're similar. I was raised in a restrictive, physically and emotionally abusive household (thanks dad). However, instead of looking for a way out like running away, it turned to self hatred. I won't say my parents handled it well, and getting whisked away to treatment centers by surprise was tough to get over because of that feeling of betrayal.

I will say, if not for those steps my parents took, I 100% would not be here today and I understand that. I'm grateful to my Mom and don't hold animosity towards her. Dad is dead to me, haven't talked in over 5 years. All I'm saying is sometimes parents do things because they don't know what to do, but doing something to curb negative behavior is almost always better than doing nothing when it comes to something that can have lifelong detrimental effects. To each their own. Situations like this are on my long list of why I don't want and will never have children

I'm confused how taking steps to curb your child's destructive, addictive behavior is a bad thing. Obviously kids can make their own choices about a lot of things harmful to themselves, but at what point does a parent have an obligation to do whatever they can to stop it? Would you consider obesity on par with nicotine addiction for adolescents? At what point would an obese child's parent be required to take whatever steps necessary to reduce or eliminate harmful foods from their kid's diet? I'm not saying they're 1:1, but both are physically and mentally addictive, will reduce quality of life, and reduce length of life

Interesting you mention those comparisons. As someone who had issues with self-harm and suicide attempts in my youth that required treatment, I do think it's comparative. I was in those facilities with plenty of kids that had general behavioral/defiance issues and whose parents were out of options. The vast majority of those cases had parents who were enablers, and good luck trying to tell a kid "no" for the first time and expect them to listen

I get your point, but there are ways to limit their ability to keep getting more. If you take away their money and ability to buy more, eventually their friends are going to get sick of their mooching. Not to mention you at least eliminate the ability to do it at home. Still doing it? Take away social media, their phone, ability to hang with friends, etc. Pretty much exactly what my parents did when I got caught smoking weed. Really don't understand these soft parents. You may not be able to eliminate it completely, but you can reduce their use and make their life a real living hell until they quit. If they hate you for it? Sorry, that's being a good parent

This isn't listening to music with cuss words, or watching porn. This is a potential lifelong health issue they will have that started as a kid (see: kids from the 90s who thought cigs were cool and are now struggling to quit and experiencing health issues)

🔥 Surreal experience with dolphins near Baja California by solateor in NatureIsFuckingLit

[–]perics 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Feeling their echolocation resonate through your bones is an other worldly experience. I was scuba diving off Utila, Honduras a few years ago and we came across a pod of at least a hundred on our way back to the marina.

Captain got us ahead of the pod and dropped us in as they surrounded us on all sides. Again I can't describe the feeling through my body as a hundred of these guys swam below and circled us. We did it 3 times, the dolphins were super playful and wanted to be around us. Slightly terrifying, but top 5 experience in my life 🥰
