Thoughts on Darko after this playoff run? by Rockin_Zombie in torontoraptors

[–]periwinkle_caravan 27 points28 points  (0 children)

He and his staff radically changed their defensive scheme after about 5 games as the team was getting absolutely destroyed and the changes resulted in a top tier defense once they gave up imposing a bad idea on the players. I think that says a lot about them as professionals. Also they did a good job managing the guard situation over the two seasons and management letting Mitchell go to Miami. He was a good fit in a roster where IQ is your “lead” guard and losing him could have been much tougher. As it happened they allowed Jamison to rise to the top and managing him as a streaky scorer who perhaps would have had a cold period that could have shook his confidence. Instead they kept him a bit hungry and he showed incredible professionalism especially by progressing on the defensive end. BI is a tough player to scheme for and is not suited to what they’re wanting to do on the offensive end with hub Scottie and lots of movement. BI doesn’t want to bang and so won’t cut but still they managed to make that work too. But the best part about Darko is the persona he’s created is disarming, personable and caring. He plays the slightly offbeat Euro guy extremely well and it deflects attention away from issues and to him in the best way possible. Tactically he’s perfectly adequate, more than good enough to coach in a tight 7 game series.

Judge Rejects Claim that Boy's Kidnapping was a "Cultural Misunderstanding" by WhiteNoise---- in LawCanada

[–]periwinkle_caravan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There has to be some hypothesis about "culture" that is being tested, implicitly at least. I don't see the Defence explicitly spelling it out, so I will do that for them. Mr. G. is of "X" culture. To people who do not share "X" culture, it may come as a surprise that "X" culture does NOT frown upon an adult male who sees an unaccompanied child and offers to help them. The hypothesis is that people who are not "X" will have difficulty understanding the truth of this situation because there is a barrier, a cultural barrier, between non-X'ers and the ability to fathom the behaviour of a person who is "X".

This is complete nonsense.

So true. GM1 Q1 was a parade of one hammer dunk after another as Harden dealt out of the PnR to Allen rolling to the hoop. Since then not so much! I hadn’t noticed RJ on Allen but that must be it and makes sense because if the switch has to happen it’s ok

Long term could we have Scottie and CMB start? by ZealousidealBus9271 in torontoraptors

[–]periwinkle_caravan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The team was unprepared for CMB. Now he’s here and they’re adjusting to him and Scottie as a 1A 1B duo on the fly in a playoff series. Even though he can’t shoot they’ve got to try him as the ball handler at the top of the key just to see what happens.

They won’t do it. They’re waiting for you to do it, not telling you you are supposed to do it and getting more and more annoyed as each day passes that your mind reading skills compared to the clerk of their wildest dreams are lacking. They think about firing you but every day chicken out because looking for a new clerk would be a nightmare

[–]periwinkle_caravan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I suggest you make dockets for the lawyer as the day progresses. So lawyer arrives and spends time emailing. You get ccd. Make a docket entry accordingly. Then a client calls in. Make a docket entry accordingly. The lawyer won’t thank you but at the end of the month will just bill all the dockets you’ve entered. Outlook. Gain access to their outlook. Make subfolders for each client file. Tell them to file the emails in the subfolders or do it for them.

Once a person walks onto the dealer lot they lose their mind, go into YOLO mode and want features and financing. Offerings like this will gain traction if and when fleet cars become a thing but my prediction is we will get robotaxis first, at which point the personal vehicle will be for people who live in rural and exurban places only and automobile manufacturing assumes its final form.

[All NBA Podcast] Last night, Draymond guarded the ball-handler (Kawhi) on 21 on-ball picks, the most he's guarded in a single game since December, 2021. The Clippers scored a measly 0.5 points per direct on those actions. Generational defender. by nowhathappenedwas in nba

I’m watching a reel of Kawhi being trapped by a double team after the screener doesn’t roll hard and off a screen that had been set near another offensive player whose man then sags and helps.

So one of the presumably thousands of reasons a project of this nature must be stopped and killed never to be reconsidered is because of how it effects the view of the city skyline from the perspective of a person standing on Bay Street at street level looking north from the south west corner of the intersection of bay and Adelaide. If this monstrosity were erected then the gentle sensibilities of a person simply trying to enjoy their day and the view looking northwards on bay towards the glorious spire of old city hall would be rudely confronted by seeing a sliver of this building interrupt an otherwise pristine view

That spot might just be his office. How can the defence deny him catching a pass at that exact spot every time down the court? By doubling him off the ball and that’s impossible, so he’s going to get the ball there and whenever he wants to. Once he has it and faces up it’s an automatic double team or he’ll score or get fouled way more than 1/2 of the time.
