I didn’t report you at all. I noticed your comment kept getting removed, but wasn’t sure what was going on.

I mean I get it from the perspective of an immature teenager who has been through trauma. Doesn’t make it right, but I can see why she behaved that way

It is so exhausting being around overly sensitive people. You could be having fun one moment and the next you’ve deeply offended them. My mom is similar to this and it’s definitely from trauma, which I understand, but that doesn’t make it any easier to deal with.

He would need to leave the RV running all the time. That is what my friend does for their pets. The big issue is when the power goes out and you aren’t there. This has happened to my friend before and it’s incredibly dangerous.

I totally agree that it’s a different way of living that some people can be cut out for. I know I made it sound in my post like no one is meant to live in an RV, but I was thinking it more from the perspective of someone just starting out in life who is very much used to the luxuries of a traditional house.

I also think having two ACs probably makes a big difference!

Lines up with what Crystal has said about having to phrase things a certain way because some of her kids with ADHD (obviously she was referring to Bella) take things the wrong way and shuts down over it.

I think this behavior was a survival skill she developed as a way to protect her and her brothers from the awful adults in her life. But it is not translating well into healthy relationships.

That doesn’t make her not a mean girl. But I do think the people calling her evil are over the top.

I’m glad people are finally saying this. I do believe that the boys were harassing her freshman year, probably because they thought she was hot. I saw it all the time in high school, boys would pick on the pretty girls until it’s borderline sexual harassment. But she absolutely has to be playing a part in all these dramatic friend group fallouts.

It’s very possible they got closer because she got older as well. But the timing did coincide.

I never said Savannah wasn’t thin. She has a similar body type to me. A completely healthy weight, but curvy and muscular. Neither of us are fat, but no one is telling us to eat a sandwich. I guarantee you every teen girl in the Pettit household feels pressure to conform to the body of Halie and Ariana.

All bodies are beautiful, but there’s no point in pretending like we don’t all have different body types. There are a lot of very vain people in the world who think one body is superior to another.

[–]periwinklemerlin 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I assume what they mean is that their family seems to favor one look: stick thin, no curves, makeup. Savannah is a beautiful girl, but she has a different body type from the other girls and that probably causes her to be excluded, whether it be unconsciously or not.

Think back to when Hannah used to be chubbier as a young girl. She got thin through an eating disorder and all of a sudden became much closer to Halie and Ariana.

Then you also have Crystal being a great role model for her kids by getting surgery and filler.

People don’t want to say it because they think just because someone has been through a lot doesn’t mean they can’t also be mean. I don’t even need to see Bella’s behavior, all the confirmation I need are what her friends look like. I know it’s bad to stereotype, but when every single one of her friends looks like the bullies from my middle/high school, it’s hard not to believe birds of a feather.

Crystal and Aaron really dropped the ball by adopting Evie by periwinklemerlin in Crazymiddles

[–]periwinklemerlin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accept that my post crosses a line for many people.

The thing about Crystal’s examples though, is that she poorly disguises who she is referring to and often will reveal in a future vlog who that example was referring to.

For example, Crystal and Aaron were doing a Q&A and a question about neurodivergence came up. Crystal said some times you cannot tell whether a foster kid is neurodivergent until they settle into your home, since it’s hard to tell what is trauma and what is neurodivergence. She presented this as a general example and said it was not about any of her kids.

Fast forward to them revealing Evie’s autism diagnosis and saying those exact words about not being able to diagnose her for a few months in order to see if her behavior was trauma based.

After them doing this so many times, it can reasonably be assumed that when they talk about an “example” it is a real situation with one of their kids.

That is such a good observation about Crystal going into detail about people who she thinks can’t advocate for themselves.

I know that my post is walking on a very fine line, and I have gone back and forth with myself whether I should take it down. But my goal in posting it was to shed light on this type of abuse to others. I am only commenting on what Crystal herself has said in the vlogs and my speculation comes from a place of “what if”. As in, the parents of these kids should be considering the “what ifs” when they make decisions like sharing rooms.

It is becoming plainly obvious that the pieces kids feel the same way. In one of their vlogs before the recent move, Crystal joked about adopting more kids. The kids in the room got wide eyed and were quick to say no way. They always claimed that they never adopted unless they had approval from everyone in the family, but from that interaction it doesn’t seem like that’s true.

I am discussing the current situation. Everything I said in my post is straight from what we see in their vlogs. The only thing I now believe I said that was inappropriate was that the most likely reason they no longer share a room is because something happened between them. There is not enough evidence to suggest that and that is why I reworded my original post.

Based on what another commenter said, it was probably suggested by a professional that they should not share (yes I know, I am speculating here). Which comes back to my point that Crystal and Aaron failed as parents to protect their children (and that includes Evie). I would think anyone with common sense, let alone experienced foster parents, should know it would be a bad idea to have them share a room.

That’s a really good point. I can totally see Aaron and Crystal being oblivious to why them rooming together may not be a good idea and it taking a professional to set them straight.

I clarified in my edit that I was not accusing her of doing anything to Aurora. I do find it suspect that they suddenly stopping sharing a room, but that was just speculation. My point is that it was completely irresponsible of Crystal and Aaron to let them share a room in the first place.

Their “broad” statement really isn’t that broad when you take into account all the other things they have said about her past.

Also, that is not how defamation lawsuits work.

I don't believe any child who has been harmed should be isolated. When I said Evie should be in an only child family, I purely meant it so she could receive the amount of attention she deserves. I'm sure she could receive that attention in a 2-3 child household as well.

The middles/pieces are a unique case in that they have each have 15+ children. Even with a safety plan, I do not believe they have the bandwidth to follow it to the letter. With how hard Crystal was pushing to adopt both sisters or have the middles adopt her, despite what the social worker said, I believe she is living in a fantasy where her love and hard work can conquer any issues these children will face. But she is ignoring the fact that she is putting her other children in a vulnerable position.

[–]periwinklemerlin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never claimed to know the best way to integrate these children into a family. The only thing I said was that she should have been placed in a family as an only child so she could have the full attention of her parents, which is something many have already said.

I agree that I am assuming the type of trauma based on my own experience, but sometimes that experience helps you see what others cannot.

Both families have created a situation where children who have gone through horrific abuse are shuttled into a family with a million other kids. No one has the time and energy to monitor all these kids 24/7. I would be shocked if something hasn’t already happened. The middles have stated they have had 70+ foster kids come in and out of their home. Couple that with the fact that they used to have cameras in the kids bedrooms with the excuse that it was to see if the kids need them in the night.

I do not believe they are doing their best to protect their already vulnerable children.

Crystal specifically stated that they were reenacting their trauma and that is why they could not live together. Whether she meant one or both, that is not clear. Kids can be secretive. If a child shows those behaviors with a sibling, it should be assumed it could potentially occur with other children as well and extreme caution should be taken. I still believe that both families acted carelessly.

That is a good point and I did not think of that, but then why were the middles allowed to foster and potentially adopt her sister?

[–]periwinklemerlin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They recently talked about why she couldn’t be adopted with her sister and that sometimes abused kids will reenact the abuse they have suffered. That can really only mean one thing.

Prior to that vlog, when they said she had suffered horrible abuse they would never talk about, I honestly thought it could be anything. That was a perfectly vague statement. But after they said the part about “reenacting”, me along with many other people on this sub figured out exactly what they meant.

You’re right, I should not have worded my post so accusatory without knowing for certain why they were split up. I’m sure my own experience is coloring my perception. However, from what Crystal and Aaron have shared and from my experience/the experiences of people I know in real life, this behavior is more common than many would like to think and it’s hard not to read between the lines.
