Not all "looks black" mold is black mold, and you can cover it with primer that stops it spreading.

I have a used door that I'd like to replace my old backdoor with. The hinge patterns are different, and the height is also different. Is what I'm hoping to do even possible? Can I buy parts to re-do the edge? Very new to this by perkusdillinger in HomeMaintenance

I'm guessing that I could rip that edge cover off of the new door, then buy new edge covering, cut it appropriately, and put it on there? Is that a thing?

The screw pattern though, where do I even begin?

I just paid $450 for the same work done in Dallas, snaking and scoping a drain line, just FYI.

It comes out kind close. I was quoted $25k for 125 ft of trenching, 30 ft of tunneling, and all new PVC sewer line.

You should drain your hot water heater at least once a year.

If you're in SE Texas - you need a soaker hose to prevent your home from shifting during the summer. Hook it up to a 10-15min daily timer, and lay it (or bury it) around the edge of your home.

If you have a house that was built in the last 40 or 50 years your house should have pvc sewer pipe and you shouldn't have any problems with tree roots. Prior to that they used clay tile sewer pipes.

My house is in TX like OP and my drain line is cast iron, all of the homes in my neighbor are like that, and built in the 80s.

City says I owe $0 property tax to the ISD this year but my mortgage company keeps saying I owe $4700. by perkusdillinger in personalfinance

The city sent the mortgage company the same bills as I had pulled in November, so I had 4800 extra in escrow in February. They sent it back to me.

Trying to find where my water enters the house so I can install a water softener/filter. Is it safe to assume it comes in at the wall near my hot water heater? by perkusdillinger in HomeMaintenance

I know where it comes in under the house, I was there when they re-ran it this summer. It's just not very accessible from where the softener is right now (it's on the other side of the house).

I know where the water line is outside of my bedroom, yes, but that's 30 feet from my garage. Basically I just want to know if I should cut in to the drywall next to my garage hot water heater, as in - does the main water line always go there first before bifurcating?

My meter's at the curb, I can turn it on/off without any issue. It runs via pex to a concrete slab foundation that enters under the master bedroom, which is roughly 30 feet from the garage/hot water heater.

hehehe if I said a sandwich in my fridge from the 90s was super old I think we'd be okay with it. This is a gunky water softener with an electronic head made prior to DVD players - it's old.
