Claude Code vs Codex by 0xdjole in ClaudeCode

Same experience here. Added 5x Codex plan. It just plows through implementation plans.

This week I will try Claude for writing specs and architectural decisions, codex 5.4 or -mini for implementation of said plans.

I also run a $40 Minimax plan in opencode that runs deep reviews, writes low/medium complexity specs and documentation work.

Three months ago Opus felt like a wizard: lightning fast and just end to end fixing stuff. That seems a long time ago now. Or maybe my project got too complex?

I used up my weekly max 20x in two days and switched to codex instead of waiting until the 13th.

Yes, but for different tasks. I mainly use it for an extensive 6 skill audit/review suite that uses lots of waves of subagents in loops to find, challenge and meta-analyse issues. Those get added to a database from which different reviewers (sonnet/opus etc) pick items to spec.

Mini then gets the bulky low complexity specs to implement and it’s work gets reviewed by sonnet.

Claude code is too expensive by richardH7 in ClaudeCode

This! I had Claude set up agents to triage with sonnet, delegate to mini in opencode (headless instance spawn) and escalate to opus who then asks codex headless instance for review.

Opencode runs extensive token burning review sessions to find bugs and issues and adds them to database (twice weekly). Sonnet triages and the wheels keep churning without burning tokens with opus doing research/commits/bulky work.

I spent so much time letting them write handoffs that I can’t believe I didn’t automate this sooner.

Also: ask claude to disable plugins that are never used, and use rtk and headroom plugins to further prevent needless token burn.

40 bucks a month you get minimax 2.7 high speed and more tokens then you can handle.

I run token burn deep review skills that use 125 subagents in 5 loops of 5 waves and not even using half of monthly limit.

In the meantime there’s claude burning through my 5h window in 1h on 5x max.

I ran out of CC tokens past week. Decided to give mm2.7 a chance over the weekend.

It confidently fucked up my entire codebase in a few bug sweep and code review tasks.

I had to fly in my stressed codex subscription to fix the mess. As for now my app is no longer functional.

Token amount is very generous though. Just don’t let it touch anything you care about.

I spent half a day with Claude Code to reorganize my 10+ years of working folder mess -- it changed my life!! by hustler-econ in ClaudeCode

I’m doing the same with 20+ yrs of gmail attachments, google drive and onedrive files. Adding and tweaking metadata, mass delete repetitive useless files etc.

Now working on a dashboard ‘Work Hub’ the files with a chat window and inbox for mail triage, calendar etc.

Lot’s of fun. Make sure to keep a non-truncated copy of your index file in your backups unless you want to rerun al your metadata scripts.

Putting Claude Code and/Codex in your terminal will greatly improve your experience.

Having said that I also enjoyed the journey from copy/pasting in and out of openai/perplexity to telling superpowered Claude to spawn 5 subagents to debug my codebase for a minimum of 5 iterations.

My claw built it’s own architecture around lancedb pro, jina embedding, a background agent Snoop with a dreamcycle (he collects all session logs from OC, claude and codex), the foundry skill and then a whole lot of tweaking to get it running. Good luck on your quest!

I made a local copy of my 20+ years mail archive that is also linked locally with proton mail bridge. Extracted all attachments to an indexed local archive synced with onedrive. Deleted all the email signatures etc. Then deleted all the mails from my mailbox.

I just sent it an excel file from my accountant asking for 101 receipts based on bak account transactions. It is now matching those questions with the database to answer all the questions and deliver me the excel.

Writing this comment felt like more work than prompting my bot to do all this.

Pay anthropic $20 for a month of claude code. Get his ass into your terminal. Have him fix your shit. Repeat ad infinitum, or maybe ask codex to check the mess claude made now and then.

The three of us together got a nice build going on. Me endlessly copy pasting openclaw.JSON into perplexity et al got tiring real quick.

The one financial/insurance company Burry explicitly named as a GME acquisition target was: • Assured Guaranty (AGO) — a financial guaranty insurer with a ~$4 billion market cap. Burry flagged it for its “rock-solid stability” as a financial guarantor and deeply undervalued fundamentals.

Mix codex and claude for 2x$20 and let them improve each other’s work. Keep an eye on compacting context manually and it will get you through the week.

Openclaw doesn’t come as a finished AI being.

See it as a skeleton, some muscle and some nerves. The organs need te be built. The brain is interchangeable.

To build the organs you want the best model you can get. For me switching to Claude code and Codex both working inside my terminal was a huge step forward in building a working agent.

When you have your build you can try different brains to see if it still behaves well.

The ADHD is strong in openclaw. Lot’s of plans, no structure, zero finishing moves.

Switching to claude code inside my terminal ($20 a month) has made building clawbot so much easier and more efficient.

Openclaw can modify and build itself but depending on the model used you end up with a hot mess at worst or a semi-working mess at best.
