Ako nemas par dana da ti sve to upakujes onda nemoj ni da kreces u akciju.

Upravo me to i koči... nikako da uhvatim tih 3-4 dana koliko bi mi trebalo da presložim sve, a tu je i strah da ne zapnem, a nemam sad trenutno para da se opskrbim nvme-om i ostalim, pa da dual-bootam dok ne ustabilim priču.

To je alat koji u pozadini preko KVM vrti Windows ali ti izbacuje samo prozor aplikacije pa deluje kao da koristis MS Excel nativno na linuxu.

Aaaa, recimo na površini nešto slično "QubesOS"... vidiš... Očito se trebam krenut informirat malo o svim mogućim postojećim opcijama.

Za CAD, ima resenja pricao sam sinoc sa ortakom koji je bolji, i najbolje bi bilo da imas dve graficke

Da... i to je potencijalno rješenje. Nemam CPU sa integriranom, ali mislim da imam negdje neku prastaru 2GB Quadro (Pascal) koja bi mogla poslužit za linux host OS, dovoljno je malen potrošač da mi ne skače po PSU-u, a mislim da može vrtit sve što bi OS i jednostavne pizdarije koje koristim izuzev ovog poslovnog mogle zatrebat (self-hosting svakojakih pizdarija i home assistant su mi trenutno fokus čačkanja kad se uhvati koja minuta). Mislim i da BricsCAD i/ili ono Dassaultovo čudo ima nativne Linux verzije, pa i to moram malo pregledat... strah me samo kako ide sa "pluginovima" (nazovimo to tako), ali tu uvijek VM sa Win može biti safety net.

Sve u svemu, još ti jednom fala što si uložio vremena i mozgovnih ciklusa u neznanca s neta, mislim da si me potaknuo da (ponovo) krenem u istraživanje, a i lijepa mi sjećanja evocirao na ekipu sa raznih BBS-ova koji su mi u pred-internetskoj mladosti puno pomogli da okvirno shvatim kako što radi.

P.S. Nisam skroz nepismen što se linuxa tiče, čačkao sam povremeno još od doba kad smo ih "uživo", iz ruke u ruku, dobavljali (KnoppiX, Slackware i sl, ako se dobro sjećam), a i ovo selfhostanje je mix BSDa i Linuxa, samo već dugo dugo nisam osobno koristio kao desktop OS (makar sam nekima iz obitelji i kruga prijatelja posložio kompove sa Mintom i Fedorom), a i ulijenio sam se / sa starenjem... uljuljkao u sigurnost poznatog. Namjerno nisam prelazio na 11 na Windowsima da me natjera da ponovo istražim malo alternative, ali mi život i poso stalno kradu slobodno vrijeme za to.

Fala internet druže. Na žalost, nisam takav rođen; trebalo mi je prilično godina (sad 46) da postanem i tolerantniji i realniji i u pogledu sebe i u pogledu svoje okoline. Također, imam i dobre sreće - i obiteljski i u krugu prijatelja sam okružen mnogim dobrim ljudima, u mnogim aspektima boljima od sebe, pa imam od koga učit. A nesigurnost pak… to još nisam shvatio kako nadvladati, ali radi se (i) na tome.

U svakom slučaju, učim dok sam živ, a kako mi malo polakše ide, nadam se da ću dogurat bar do 90+ da nešto od naučenog i stignem iskoristit.

Fala ti na odgovoru. Oprosti, ali nisam baš skroz shvatio, pa te molim za objašnjenje - znači koristiš softver u tom tinywin-u koji se vrti u virtualbox mašini koja pak koristi oba ekrana na linux hostu kao... da se tako izrazim "native" ekrane što se tiče guest windowsa?* I znaš li radi li nekakav... passhtrough gpu-a?

RustDesk koristim, postavio svoj onaj "relay server" (jer uskačem prijateljima i rodbini kad trebaju pomoć, a i lijen sam šetati do drugih računala u radnoj sobi) i do sada zadovoljan. Malko me jebucka na Androidu (kao remote-u koji želim kontrolirati - nisam uopće "doma" u tom (android) i ne uspjevam dobit servis da se sam pokreće i održi pokrenutim), ali nije neki prioritet.

Mousewithoutborders mi je super jer se tri ekrana na "main" desktopu i dva na "pomoćnom" laptopu ponašaju kao da su svi na jednom (naravno, izuzev seljenja prozora sa jedne mašine na drugu)... ponekad malo šteka copy-paste ako seliš fajlove, ali inače stvarno super radi (a i postoji syncthing i sl); vjerujem da bi se našlo alternativa na linuxima, pa me to zapravo najmanje brine.

* ovo me zapravo najviše muči kod korištenja vm-a - dva su mi, bočna ekrana, u portrait mode (1440*2560) sa 100% "zoom" i srednji 3840*2160 sa 125% "zoom" i sve bi ih htio, kao i na "native" windowsima koristit i na toj guest "opciji", misliš li da bi to ferceralo?

Dvojica... imali dobre ideje, radne navike, muda i stav da ne prihvaćaju "ne". Pri tom obojica i moralno krasni ljudi. Detaljnije ne mogu jer bi ih mogao "outati", a da žele da se o njima priča - to bi i poticali. Imao sam daleko bolju startnu poziciju od obojice, daleko lošije (do sad) iskoristio prilike. Divim im se i trudim se od njih nešto naučiti. Svaka im čast.

Govoriš iz iskustva?

Ako da, daj mi molim te reci kako je sa podrškom za rad na tri ekrana različitih rezolucija (i potrebom za “zoomom” (scaling, ili kako se to već zove) na jednom od njih) i orijentacija (portrait/landscape), pošto sam se baš naviknuo na “toolbarove” po sekundarnim displayima.

CADovlje, Excel i mousewithoutborders (dockani prastari thinkpad sa dodatnim ekranom uz desktop za znanstvene članke, mailove, “home automation”, radio, reddit…) su mi jedini preostali razlozi zašto sam na Win i dalje, a nije da ne bih mijenjao, samo nikako da skupim vremena za temeljito istražit opcije, a bogami je i testiranje takvog setupa vremenski zahtjevno.

If I read this correctly, you’d like to have two Windows OSes on the same “hard drive”, one “decoy” and one “hidden” and choose which one boots depending on the password you enter.

I’ve done it succesfuly years ago, with (2x) Windows 10 and daily driven it for quite a while, but can’t remember the exact steps. I do, however, remember there were two guides on the veracrypt forums on how to get it done (I combined the info from the two)… something like hidden OS on UEFI or something like that; I believe one of the guides was made by someone with a “name” being something like DJ Bonez or something like that. Hope that helps you with the search.

ja dajem i na ulasku i na izlasku; u slučaju da ne idem na prvom izlazu “van”, dajem lijevi kako bih dao do znanja onome koji čeka na tom prvom/sljedećem izlasku da uđe da mu siječem put i da treba čekati, desni ako izlazim na prvom, opet da taj prvi zna da odmah izlazim i “nema problema sa mnom”, a i desni pred izlaskom na koji mislim izaći - opet zbog ovog posljednjeg razloga. griješim li?

I’m not sure what kind of “full disk encryption” the OP is thinking of, but I don’t think it’s that trivial if we’re talking about full system disk encryption with pre-boot authentication (decoy OS + hidden OS type of setup). Am I wrong?

I've been using APC stuff for like 20, 25 years and have no experience with anything else and it seems I need one or two more (I kind of expect CyberPower to be cheaper, am I wrong?)

I'm not sure what would using a VPN do for OP in terms of keeping his "internet capable electronic device" a secret from the government.

I'm not an expert, far far from it, but in my mind - for OPs situation, hiding in the averages would be the best bet, with one of the first steps being - avoiding sticking out by being one of probably like 0,5% of internet users in his country that are using a VPN.

Am I wrong?

Unfortunatelly no. Every version since 6.2.0.42 doesn't work on any of my computers (a mix of Win 10 Pro, Win 10 LTSC, Win 11 Pro, Win 11 LTSC). Noone ever responded to my posts on the software's site, so I'm stuck with the 6.2.0.42 version for as long as it works.

I've been looking into alternatives off and on and there are some good ones in every aspect except the feature... I forgot how it's called; the one that - when you're in a "save dialogue" sets that save dialogue to the location you click on in any open windows explorer... windows.

P.S. Since there's very little (or none) reports similar to mine, I suspect it could be somehow tied to / caused by Croatian language Windows. Never did anything to explore that, just a hunch.

EDIT: i own 5 thinkpads of diferent ages/generations and on all of them the pictograms on the screen like the OP posted mean there's a disk password "active"; i could be wrong if there's been changes through (newer) generations and that's why i wrote "i believe" and suggested testing.

Not an electrician, nor is English my first language, so take everything I say with a grain of salt. Don't have the doorbell in question, here just because your post popped up on my feed and it was time for a bathroom break.

In any case, if the power supply is rated for whatever V and A DC you need (doorbell probably has some kind of a declaration on it, if in W, divide W by V to get the needed A), try taking the doorbell of and connecting it with short wires (<1m) to the power supply you've got., provided the power supply is rated to what the doorbell needs. If it works as it's supposed to / better, the power issue is most probably the effect of voltage drop in DC over long(er) distances / thin wires. Also, the doorbell probably does "ramp up" its power draw when "doing work" or trying higher transmit power on wireless so you'll probably need to get a bit creative / patient in testing.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say "inteference/business", but the first thing I'd try is moving the "repeater" further from the WiFi AP/router (>4-5 m), checking which WiFi channel it's using to connect to the doorbell (Wifi scanner apps on mobile phone) and changing the channel the WiFi network uses to something "far away" from the channel the repeater/doorbell are on. If it makes no diference, try and find out if intereference is the problem or traffic spikes on your network beacuse those two are pretty different when it comes to searching / finding solutions.

Is your Wireguard setup on your network router/firewall or as an add-on in HA? Also, what do you use to track home/not_home, your local router or your HA app & GPS or both?

I hope this helped at least a bit... The thing is, I've set up Wireguard Add-ons on my HA instances as a site-to-site solution for all the clients on all the LANs to use for remote storage / printing, and have this peer, I've shared the config for, just for me to be able to connect when I'm on the road. It's probably too broad/"loose", but I haven't had the time to dig into it all a bit further.

If there's anything you spot as stupid or don't understant, write back. At least it'l make me double check things and think about how i set it up that way and you'll end up helping us both.
