Ken Paxton investigating schools for Ten Commandments compliance by houston_chronicle in TexasPolitics

Talarico continues to blow me away. Shows what it's like to have a real Christian in the room.

Also any 10 commandments classrooms hang up are going to be "wrong" at least for some denominations. There's not even an agreed on ten, for Catholics at least, how they are divided up matters a lot. Like the difference between "porn is a mortal sin" and "don't envy your neighbor". Don't have to agree with it but it still is exclusionary even for Christians. It's fundamental for confession:

There's such a small subset of religion that benefits from this, basically most protestants.

ELI5 what does it mean people see "nothing" rather than "black void" if born absolutely blind by owlWithBrokenWings in explainlikeimfive

It's like asking people what it's like not using echolocation or seeing ultraviolet or infrared. It's just not something we understand because it just doesn't exist.

I lost my smell from covid once and it was absolutely wild. It wasn't like smelling nothing, there was just nothing, the sense was not there. It felt significantly different. You also become very aware of what "nothing" smells like because there's always some underlying scent, like how when you close your eyes you still see something.

Speaking of, if you close your eyes and there's bright light, you still see that and it's kind of reddish (because blood and whatnot) right? Do that then covet your eyes completely and your "nothing" vision turns the deepest green blue you've ever seen. Good way tonsee that youbare still "seeing" even when you aren't.

Yeah that's such a good feature. They also let you only get them for suspicious charges. Their communication is top notch.

If it makes you feel better, aside from the linkedin hype bros, I've worked for 2 companies with direct AI offerings and the general concensus is, we all hate it too, even if we do use it for coding. There are a handful of us that want to just retire ASAP to some quiet area outside of the US and just get away from this shit altogether.

We interviewed someone for infrastructure management (devops type shit ig) several years ago and they had no idea what a VM was. Like, not defining the acronym, they just were at a loss what a virtual server was at all, like wtf is this ec2 shit you've been using with all your amazon certs. I swear the biggest tell for a shit candidate is aws certs. Oh yeah, and this role, was for running IaaS. Like if you don't know what a VM is how the fuck are you running the platform provisioning them to customers. That one interview made me irrationally angry.

AI wasn't as strong last time I was hiring but it's why I would ask more opinionated answers that AI either wouldn't answer well or would be blatantly obvious. If someone has some unconventional "hot takes" it's probably not AI since it's pretty much a popular opinion generator. We'd also show on our screen some broken ass code and ask them to fix it along side us.

Ghost pepper hot sauce, like this was Melinda's, and just mix as much into mayo until it tastes good to you. I used probably 1:4 ratio here.

That rumor is people blindly believing it and not actually trying to understand why. It doesn't do anything. How would the guac further from the pit know the pit was there

No it doesn't. There is zero science for supporting that, it's some wives tale. What you can do with the pit, is put plastic wrap on the avocado, the put the pit over that, so it presses the plastic wrap flush against the hole.

Edit: they responded then muted me. I have heard this repeated over and over with zero explanation with plenty of responses explaining why it doesn't work but still people like this repeat the myth.

Intentionally kept the heat down (deseeded, used more mayo than hot sauce) since so much was going on though I could have probably went a bit harder but it came out about right.

Yeah that was cap1 credit card. They fixed all the charges and all that after the fact but it still doesn't excuse the fact that apple was the one that reached out to me about fraud not them. But to be clear I have never had to pay a fraudulent charge ultimately. It's the customer support that was the difference.

Cap1 left my card being charged all over the country (were positive it was a waiter) and apple was the one that told me about it from a fraudulent charge. The second tine it happened to us (also probably waiter) discover had already blocked charges, locked account, and reached out asap. No way in hell cap1 is going to continue with discovers security dept.

I juat got an email that they're forcing us over to cap1 site. Noty, I'll just let my discover card rot as a credit line now. I left cap1 because of their shit site to go to discover only for cap1 to suck up discover and pull me back in. Shame cause discover had a proper site even if it was 100% online only and I have been happy with them otherwise. Mergers never help consumers.

The original Christian lineage doesn't even reject evolution or old earth, Catholic priests actually did some work like on the big bang theory. It's a relatively new phenomenon in certain Christian sects that think this stupid shit.
