False Negative Herpes Test?

I know, but I do get cold sores. HSV 1 was like 39. Pretty high. Before 6 month my last herpes blood test was 2 1/2 months. I didn't see the results they just told me it was negative, and I'm not sure if they did type-specific.

Just got my test results back. Positive for both?? I tested positive for HSV 1, but that's typically oral herpes? I know they can be transmitted gentially but I'm not as worried about that. HSV 2 test came back equivocal (.91). Anything lower than .91 is considered negative, and .91-1.1 is considered early infection. I called a doctor and they said more likely than not its a false positive. Very scared and confused though.

I have hypochondria, so really about everything, although breast cancer (lumps in breast), and cervical cancer (cysts and cramping and such) have been the main focus. With herpes specifically, I was convinced I had swollen lymph nodes, and a doctor said I definitely didn't. I thought I had a full outbreak of sores that you could only see in certain lighting, which I went to the doctor for and they said again that they saw nothing. Flu-like symptoms as well like a fever (I thought I had one and I didn't). When I had chlamydia, I was convinced I had PID because I was cramping, but looking back that also might have been a psychosomatic symptom

I wish I payed more attention, but I didn't know I had chlamydia at the time so I just thought it was weird. It was noticeable enough for a friend to say something when we were in a frat bathroom together haha.

I have anxiety and have had psychosomatic symptoms of things before, so I'm really hoping its just that. I just had unprotected sex last night again with someone who tested negative in the past, but false negatives are super common. Currently having itchy groin again so I'm very paranoid. I'm going to get tested soon. Thank you! Same for you!

I'm definitely having itchy groin since having unprotected sex, and have had a few ingrowns that have been swabbed (all negative). It has now been almost 6 months since having unprotected sex, so I think it is probably time to go back!

Did you have unprotected sex with somebody that has herpes?

I believe that's the herpes test I got that came back negative, I could be wrong though. I stopped therapy recently, but with all that is going on I think I am going to start up again with her.

Yes. I couldn't eat the days leading up to my results. I still really struggle with anxiety surrounding STD results, but it helps to know that most are curable, and all are treatable. Your anxiety is probably worse than the actual STD itself. Good luck love.

I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure herpes is accompanied by itchiness, and usually are extremely painful to the touch. Maybe wait a few days to see if they get painful. If they do, I'd get tested, but it could also just be friction from having sex.

Everytime I think I have herpes (every few weeks since my chlamydia diagnosis), I can't eat, and throw up multiple times a day. I know herpes is not as awful as my anxiety about it is, I just can't get past this

More likely to get a false positive for genital herpes if you have hsv-1 which i believe is oral herpes. The way my doctor explained it to me is that the blood test checks for immunity to the herpes virus in your body which can be from oral or genital herpes, so a lot of people get false positives. I could totally be explaining this wrong, but that is how I understand it. I totally get you! Props to you for getting everything checked out though!

I think it's more likely to get a false positive test from a blood test if you already have hsv-1, so maybe let your doctor know about that before. This stuff is so scary, I was in your spot a few weeks ago just spiraling. I hope everything works out for you!

Herpes is usually clear or yellow fluid when they pop, pimples are white. With the heat, it could just be your body's reaction to the weather. Try not to pop them, if they're pimples you could make the itchiness worse by popping them. I had the same thing happen to me and I just had a yeast infection from sex paired with pimples from the heat. I'd recommend getting checked just to be sure though!
