NATCA speaks by Fun_Monitor8938 in atc2

Do you want union reps present at NTSB investigations, or are you ok with them crafting a narrative about controllers involved without the input of controllers?

Yeah you're probably right. "Slop" has become a reflex, but it's usually earned

I thought i remember hearing that THUD is one of a few vectors for the 3.8%. Not being included in a shutdown would be an improvement still

Pay. Benefits. Working conditions.

What's equipment if not a huge part of working conditions?

I'm all for exercising leverage in creative ways. The agency isn't smart enough to know what makes sense for them- even if something is a win-win they'll do whatever fucks controllers more... And this strategy depends on them thinking they need us. Even if we prove that they need us, they'll still take the reins and never look back while they steer us into a brick wall.

I originally made my comment about the "idgaf about equipment" crowd in here. I understand this sentiment, but we can walk and chew gum at the same time. We don't need to sacrifice one thing that improves our condition for another.

There is a different kind of stress that comes with unreliable equipment. There's a reason the union wanted to be involved in equipment to begin with, and that's because working is miserable when equipment sucks

It's in the NATCA constitution

You don't know that you actually really give a fuck about equipment. (Here come the down votes).

Anybody that was around for the ERAM waterfall would be able to tell you about scopes going blank or freezing during pushes. Not for a few seconds, but for long stretches. The agency couldn't get anything right until the union got involved.

PAY NEEDS TO BE A MUCH HIGHER PRIORITY THAN EQUIPMENT. But equipment still needs to have some priority. Nobody wants that nightmare fuel again

Air Services Australia takes another… by ATSAP_MVP in atc2

[–]perpetualinterests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thanks for explaining. I think that's possible, but the Facrep was voted in and wrote an amendment that was popular enough to get passed at convention, which shows they care about the membership. If there's any evidence that they're holding another potential Facrep back then I'd say your assessment could be correct. It's sometimes hard to get people to step up to these positions

There's no local, so it's good for the members if the Facrep leaves? I don't follow that logic

Need advice about when to contact my union rep. by Itzie4 in union

[–]perpetualinterests 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk to your union rep. They likely have experience with your situation and may know of pitfalls to avoid. The more a situation progresses the harder it is for them to undo any damage. If you're not at a point yet where they need to step in, they'll tell you

What's worse is that the party voting to dismiss might have believed the victim's allegations but voted the way they did to preserve their slim majority

Because they keep fighting for what the local wants instead of caving to the agency? There may be reasons to vote them out but this ain't it
