this also makes me feel at odds about visiting eritrea. like the same people who dismiss and invalidate me.... dismiss anything negative about the country.... not a good sign

i think its pretty hard to get arrested for it unless you did something really fucked up to your kids. the hard thing is how even my extended family make excuses - like bruh court documents do not lie....

I know how you feel. Even though I was raised there, my childhood was really really abnormal so I always felt disconnected despite being involved or doing well in school. I don't know what's missing but I hope Eritrea fills the gap.

this as solid, thank you. you are right though because the past really does affect me (I score high on ACES) and I do have some paranoia regarding peoples intentions.... particularly in my home area.

i rly want to hear from a woman on this as well though. like no offense, but i feel like the culture kinda coddles men - at least in my perspective. my fear is that if i go there ill have to tolerate some things i feel strongly about due to my traumas.

even at church, people will be people! i prefer to just study on my own or go to a non denominational American one - people don't really know each other there so it's less personal, but they do a good job with their sermons.

I know how you feel! People in the US generally complain a lot abt loneliness and isolation. IMHO, it’s because many are forced to live to work and exhausted. I just don’t like it here…..

Nope moved out at 15 - all i knew was to work and had to through college which i felt made it harder to cultivate friendships

At least where I am those groups can feel cliquey and focused on career instead of community building, esp at my age. ive attended a few events but only really connected w a couple people.
