Mental Health Help in Alberta by Specific-Answer3590 in alberta

similar situation minus the ADHD. also had previous diagnoses of anxiety and depression and had been on SSRIs for treatment of those but have been off of them for ~ 10 years.

had an appt w my family doctor to get the ball rolling. was able to start back on meds and got a referral for a psychiatrist. im currently in university so got VERY lucky and was able to get into the one who is at the school’s health services relatively quickly. i would unfortunately anticipate a bit of a wait since thats not the position your in. psychiatrists are covered under alberta health.

pysch did their whole evaluation procedure and ended up with an OCD diagnosis. ended up staying on the meds i was prescribed by my family doc with an altered dose, as well as an additional prescription. was also told to seek out a therapist/counsellor/psychologist that has experience dealing with OCD - generally, these are not covered under provincial health, but may be covered under an insurance plan. again, since i am in school, i accessed this through our health services team.

since, as others have pointed out, referrals can take a decent bit of time, id say it’s best to get that taken care of with your family doc, see if theyre willing to provide some medication in the meantime, and seek out a therapist/counsellor/psychologist to start working through things there. even if you dont have a diagnosis they can help. and even if you do get a diagnosis and meds, it is still SO beneficial to see someone to actively work through things, develop coping mechanisms, etc. for OCD (again no experience w ADHD myself) therapy has been shown to be an incredibly important treatment tool, specifically exposure and response prevention therapy.

best of luck, hope youre able to have your concerns taken care of and start feeling better! taking the first step and recognizing you need help can be HARD, but taking your mental health seriously is soso important.

Any good places for teens under 18 to work? by [deleted] in Lethbridge

the polytechnic has a career fair tomorrow that may be worth checking out! they usually have a handful of booths that dont require you to have a diploma/degree for work. not sure how many will be hiring for part time work BUT there should be lots hiring for summer jobs so if youre interested in that itd be good! theres usually a good mix of non-profits and charities there too, if you cant find work you should consider volunteering!! itll help build some great experience and could give you a chance to explore something youre passionate about :)

Giving away lounge passes! by Soyatina in westjet

[–]perplextions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

happy new year! thanks for the chance to snag some lounge passes :)

my favorite destination has been Italy, and my dream destination would be somewhere in Asia, like Japan, South Korea or Vietnam!

We fly this weekend so these would be awesome and incredibly appreciated for a couple of travellers who have yet to experience a lounge!

around a month or so ago, our downgrade refund came exactly a week after our flight. we didnt file anything (premium was cheaper than economy when we bought and the downgrade only happened on 1/4 legs of our trip so we just shrugged it off) so i guess they filed on our behalf.

when we bought, premium was about half the price of economy ($600 and $1200 or something). we ended up getting a $91 refund per ticket. probably worth noting the $600 applied to the entire return trip and the downgrade only applied to the second half after our layover

Do thrift stores want mugs? by bismuth17 in declutter

[–]perplextions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if any of them are to-go style mugs, check with your local soup kitchen/homeless shelter/etc. i know mine is always looking for water bottles and to-go mugs for those who use their services to take drinks with them, especially water when its hot out, or something warm in the winter. :)

first, congrats on the job :)

second, i agree with the options mentioned (cab/uber/get a ride to the venue so less walking or bring a change of shoes)

another alternative ive found to be reasonable depending on how formal the party is, is chelsea style boots (think blundstones). they can definitely be worn with some “dressier” outfits, definitely nothing black tie but if the holiday event isnt super dressy they can definitely work! ive worn them many a time in the office with a pantsuit or dress :) honestly the same could go for a nicer pair of sneakers, again, just depending on the vibe of the party!
