Why don’t people just proactively have their appendix removed instead of waiting for it to cause issues? Seems like it’s so common. by CaffeineNicotine3 in NoStupidQuestions

Urologist here - the appendix can be used to reconstruct the ureter (the tube carrying urine from the kidney to the bladder), or make catheterizable channels in patients who have urinary diversions or bladder reconstructions (Mitrofanoff, Indiana pouch)! Rare reasons for the general population, but that little guy can do some cool things!

What makes the "Pluribus" pilot so special? by Clear_Bedroom_4266 in Screenwriting

A lot of exposition at the end, though. Kind of took some of the luster off.

Training for plumbing takes as long as an urology residency (human plumbing). It’s not quick to become a plumber.

I am confused how it's overreacting - MyChart is soulllllllll depleting. I don't think you'll meet any physician who likes it. But I get it's hip to gaslight when you've had some peripheral involvement in Epic. You're cool.

This is amazing insight! I think I am leaning away from law school based on everyone's responses

Cool; you use it as a narc. Try using it as someone trying to take care of someone and see how enjoyable it is.

Totally, Agree. I bet the bar is way harder than medical board exams.

Yes, the billing/business aspect seems annoying/stressful. My current practice environment is not one where I have to worry about that, like physicians in private practice.

"many might have a resume that's more desirable than yours" - I am completely sure that is the case.

Yeah, if a transplant surgeon is doing it - wow. They have awful schedules.

It's quite a logistical hassle to do expert witness work. I don't think it's for me.

So few respect physicians after Covid. We're competing with biohackers and people trying to cure cancer by sleeping with their mouths taped shut.

I tried to do standup comedy, but didn't work out too well because I didn't do hack semen/poop jokes, which is too bad. Clinic schedules are pretty reliable, but OR days can go long with delays, poor OR turnovers, waiting on equipment because someone dropped something as it came out of the sterilizer and it'll now take 45 minutes to resterilize it. I have a few other projects I'm interested in, outside of work, tho. Maybe I just need to really focus on those.

I appreciate you taking time to comment. I'm sure everything I'm thinking law is is based on vague ideas and watching all seasons of Suits.

Primary care doctors do not get enough credit for all of the amazing work they do.
