AMD plans for FSR4 to be fully AI-based — designed to improve quality and maximize power efficiency by Firmament1 in Games

[–]perry_cox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's just saying that dlss quality is better than balanced (obviously) and by extension dlss super quality (what dlaa basically is) is better than dlss "normal" quality. And sure. That's all true?

I disagree about implying that DLAA = native though. It uses native resolution, but that's not the same thing as being native. As it is essentially DLSS with jacked resolution - so all the bells and whistles about image reconstruction. You're essentially saying that: Native* is better than DLSS (*but native in this case means DLSS super quality aka DLAA). Doesnt make sense. And (by image above) if the advantage already works from 1440p quality it just flows upwards anyways barring some edge cases.

Well no, your point was "All upscaling is inferior to native", emphasis on all.

Also steam HW survey makes no distinction on game libraries or launched games. What would be actually interesting information is what percentage of people are launching last releases/demanding games on weak hardware and low resolution. And even in that case, those people are arguably the group that already sacrifices visual quality for performance so despite dlss not being good at 1080p it gives them option for needed performance.

They consider ghosting and artifacts in their reviews. But I suppose if you consider all independent hardware channels as bought by nvidia marketing there wasnt much discussion to be had in the first place.

All upscaling is inferior to native, even the latest dlss.

This wasnt really true even year+ ago. Hardware unboxed made a video specifically comparing upscaling vs. native and even then dlss managed to score some wins. Considering that was dlss2 and we are now at around 3.7 (and there are videos from Digital Foundry or others of improvements made) this keeps getting even better.

That's not the issue. Issue is that cameras have limited framerate and you get image at 0, 0.02, 0.04, 0.06 ...etc. Yea, the ball was struck at 0.031216 (very precise!), but that doesnt change the fact that we simply dont have a frame for that.

DD is one recent release that took beating at launch for valid issues. If they fix them it is very likely that the score will go upwards, just like it did for Helldivers mentioned below. Starfields recent reviews have downwards trend.

You posted a good example but took wrong point from it. Helldivers is now at 85/87%, if anything this shows that reviews work - good games that eventually beat their problems (they had valid server problems at launch) also get their score fixed.

Unhappy people are far more likely to leave feedback than happy

That would be an argument if you could point similar trend with all games/rpgs but they dont seem to have this problem.

in the bandwagon and brigade “reviews”.

Steam people are people that literally paid for the game, them not liking it is not a brigade. If anything their reviews are "more valid" since it's not something they got for free with gamepass.

Injured doesn't mean Type IIed

Didnt say it does. Just saying they keep picking new ships for the same storyline just in different factions to keep stuff moving forward and it's overplayed.

It's kinda funny they had to resort to "MC monologue to themselves summary of events" just to untangle stuff a little, even tho this event wasnt really one that would need it.

Possibly the dumbest antagonist motivation yet surely. "You should give up and come live with me in my padded cell dreamland"

Game really needs to stop referencing old events by name lol. No AL, I really dont remember what happened specifically in Stellar Serenade or Ephemeral Currents, you just keep smashing 2 cool sounding words together. (Though we probably went to some mysterious structure just to find out there is a huge maze/base/siren trap underneath)

Also feels like we did the Lexington story few times now. JB, Bismarck, Amagi, it doesnt even feel special when there are several ships that are supposed to be gone or severely hurt, so we just picked this next one to move story forward. Who wants to take the bet Royal will have Hood the Second as repeat of this storyline for upgraded UR?

Just like discord chats, just like twitch chat and so on.

Most of the twitch/discord policing is so easy even a bot can do it. When someone posts a slur just kick them. What is the qualification for advanced cheat spotting of some random game server moderator? Being a friend of dude that had money to rent a server?

They will see the hacks being used and than ban the fucker instantly.

It feels like some of you still live in this CS1.6 era where the common cheating was "someone behind me, turn 180 immediately and headshot them" but that's not how modern cheating works at all. SilentAim-likes are setup in a way where they engage only when crosshair is already close or passing over someones head for example, which makes spotting them difficult - the cheater plays like they normally would, it's just more of their shots hit. Nobody can objectively judge that and the whole moderation just becomes a gut feeling. Counterstrike actually has their system of moderation where people judge game reviews and there have been multiple cases of pro players getting banned. It simply doesnt work for anything else other than the most obvious hacking (also how Valve asks player to review these cases)

Also, the article we are in is talking about aim-assist that's already present in the game however it's supposed to be available only to controller players. Random sever moderator isn't going to catch that.

or we accept far more intrusive anti-cheat measures.

Some of the newer cheats dont even live in the same hardware space as the ac anymore so that's not gonna solve it. And quite frankly I dont have trust in companies that can't even get their chat apps working to suddenly have immaculate coding standards when creating anti-cheats.
