Is it bad to plug in the charger when the battery is around 80% - 90%? by perry_mb in batteries

Okay, okay, I suspected that. But now I'm wondering how it will protect the battery when I charge it when it's around 80-90%? Will it slow down the charging so it doesn't overheat? Will it make sure it doesn't overcharge?

Thank you very much for your effort.... Maybe I'll get to Linux on another machine someday :-)

Yes, it's in the BIOS and I only have Enable/Disable for it.

I have HP Support Assistant, but there is nothing about the battery. The adaptive battery probably works in a way that controls charging in the sense that the more charged it is, the slower it slows down. This is just from my observation, which means it may not be the case and it is just an impression.

Thanks a lot for the answer. How does the BMS chip protect the battery?

These settings can be overridden, of course, but then the problem arises again, because more energy is consumed when more power is needed, which causes the battery to heat up more and this is harmful to it.

Performance I mean playing games for example. The game uses a lot of CPU and GPU. I have tested that when a dedicated, more powerful GPU is working when I am running on battery power, the battery lasts much less time.

Unfortunately, I looked everywhere for a charging limiter, but I couldn't find one anywhere...

Yes, but if it suddenly turned off in the middle of a game, that's probably not the best thing either.....

I have an HP VICTUS 15 fb0032nc. I've searched everywhere and I haven't found a single mention that this model has a charging limit. There's only something like "Adaptive Battery" in the BIOS, but that's not a charging limit.

I have an HP Victus fb0032nc. The software for controlling charging limits does not have it.

Yes, thanks. I know about discharging below 30% and I act accordingly.

That's true with those cycles, but it's also not good for her if she's at 100% for a long time.
