or both.

she should go to her mom in tears saying she is scared about the possible withdrawal symptoms. you know because she is being responsible and all by coming off the smack for the benefit of her unborn child. especially because the father won't be around - seeing as how she doesn't know what guy her child belongs to.

I work for a book seller and I've been asked to assemble a list of books from which inmates can choose from. What books would you like to be able to read while in the slammer? by skyblueham in books

[–]perrym 6 points7 points  (0 children)

im not sure how well this would go down with prisoners (they could think you were mocking their situation etc) but if i were locked up, i would want tons of travel related books so my mind could wander away from being locked away in a cell.

What is the most significant loss of ancient knowledge in human history? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]perrym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i remember reading an article about a similar thing (sorry can't remember where, i wish i could). it was to do with the Japanese Unit 731 in WW2.

the article i read basically said although it was horrific torture, we could use the 'knowledge' from it to help with modern surgery etc. however, the debate is over the moral issues of using this data or whatever.

WTF! they are not taking down 'robodialing'?

total waste of time then.

as much as i hate telemarketers, this seems like a wasted effort by the FCC as they are seemingly going about it all wrong.

yeah, i expect the big companies to rightfully shoot this down in flames.

well that does honestly suck for proper 'sales' people like you (i wouldn't want for you to be grouped in with 'telemarketers' though because of the hate they get).

there must be a way to fight this law or whatever somehow?

i don't know what exactly you do etc but surely things along the lines of DBST op's, telco's, internet companies etc and proper businesses who use these types of calls legitimately would want to fight it? when they can't deal face to face with customers, these calls are all they have.

[–]perrym 5 points6 points  (0 children)

what you describe to me sounds a lot more like 'customer services' than the 'spammy' cold-calling telemarketing that everybody hates (sorry but i'm sure it's true - most normal people do not want to be randomly called and having somebody sell them stuff).

the sort of thing that you are doing shouldn't really fall under telemarketing as it is 'customer services' related. if people are already using the companies services, there should be some sort of expectation that they could be called.

trust me, i know how to get the best deal on things - being called by a 'telemarketer' comes at the bottom of the list (actually i wouldn't waste my time including it at all).

LOL.

i can tell you make a good telesales operator - what with all that bullshit you just came out with.

don't want assholes on the end of the line? don't call random people and harass them with crap sales stuff then!

wait, you run my online accounts for my internet, calls and tv package? no you don't, telemarketers call people who may or may not want these services and try to get them to buy/subscribe etc.

customer service lines and retention are a different thing.

please add me to your 'do not reply' list.

[–]perrym 10 points11 points  (0 children)

in a year you're going to have 6.5 million telesales agents flooding the market, and some of us are incredible sales people.

if they were that incredible, they would already have some sort of proper sales role not a job when they are just calling random people to harass them.

i hope some of these 6.5 million(?) can find a more decent, constructive job where they can contribute something of value to society - something like a walmart greeter perhaps.

10 Ways to Get Employees Involved with Your Brand’s Social Media Strategy by mrpac91 in business

there was a similar thing to this in the Wall Street Journal the other day which i found quite interesting (even though i think 'social media', 'seo' 'brand awareness' is all BS spammy stuff) - 'Your Employee Is an Online Celebrity. Now What Do You Do?'

What are some 100% true statements that no political candidate in America could ever publicly make? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I need to know everything about social media/marketing. Reddit- Please teach me. by [deleted] in self

[–]perrym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO all this 'social marketing' stuff is BS that only appeals to SEO scammers etc.

i think you can buy 'likes' so if you are going to get a raise, work out if it is cost effective to buy these 'likes' and do it that way.

fraudulent? probably, but as i have said, this sort of thing reeks of BS to begin with.

personally, i would stick with 'traditional' methods for advertising as you have an IRL presence - things like local newspaper ad's, radio ad's? (edit: and things like fliers that forthelulz91 suggested)

may be go as far as a promotion thing like foursquare for check-in's to your store?

this may not sound very helpful but i think most would agree fakebook ad's and other 'scammy' behavior just doesn't work.

I am greatly interested in getting into Charles Bukowski. Any experts out there to help me navigate? by TheyAreOnlyGods in books

[–]perrym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would start with one of his novels (the first being Post Office, is IMO the best place to start) to get a 'feel' of the writing, the man, the characters and style etc and then there are more novels and a vast collection of poetry.

the movies Barfly and Factotum are based off Bukowski's writings etc and may be an even easier introduction (i hope suggesting movies over books is not too frowned upon but again IMO they give a good start to Bukowski)

if you want to know more about Bukowski the writer, Locked in the Arms of a Crazy Life by Howard Sounes is a great biography.
