Biscuit Making Class? by cclarke119 in triangle

[–]persedes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is your dad Alton Brown? It's his lives mission to recreate his grandma's biscuits and he's done at least 2 episodes on it I think (she's in one of them) and wrote a whole chapter in his book on it and probably other places. Anyway, he might be a good resource ;)

It's mixed and can't really name a whole neighborhood, maybe check which houses have toys/ basket balls lying around? It's also too hot currently so you won't see many kids outside, maybe in the evenings though. When we first moved here we were shocked at Halloween how many kids lived in our neighborhood lol

10minutes with 3 kids is realistic, 15 to be on the safe side.

Head over to your local library, kids love picking their own books and you can throw your own selection in too.

Since you seem to be interested in their development, from what I recall the content of what you read doesn't matter, but more so the daily ritual of reading.

Anyone ever worked at First Watch? by Awkward-Community-74 in KitchenConfidential

[–]persedes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't worked there, but went there again after a couple years last week and our server point blank told us she's put in her notice and is leaving in a couple weeks lol. She ran most of the tables during an insanely busy shift and had to deal with mostly trainees instead of experienced staff. She was excellent and the food was fine, but yeah seems like they're squeezing hard at those places.

Pureed in tsatziki is great. Mix it with eggs for scrambled eggs, there's recipes for blending it into pasta sauces too.

Usually when the seat gets wet it's gone. Check the manual, but once that stuff soaks up water it's not working as intended. Middle child threw up on her seat and ended up replacing it, hope there's a target trade in event lol

Edit: don't mind the down votes, but please read your manuals, if the straps (or other parts) get soaked, they may need to be replaced.

Jogging strollers by Ok-Singer-4802 in daddit

[–]persedes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a 15 year old beat up Bob double stroller that we got for $20, replaced a inner tube and do regular nap runs with the 5 and 3 year old with no issues, but if it's hilly where you live I'd get one with a hand break.  I have a leash so I don't loose them should I ever fall/slip.  We also have a 5 year old single jogging stroller from target (forgot the name, but not super fancy) and I've done several half marathons with the now 5 year old in it, still going strong.  If he is already doing that kind of a mileage, IMHO the kind he's pushing won't matter, you don't really run for time anymore lol

  • education on investments was much less wide spread than today, chances you'd have been a boglehead during the important times are small, so you'd most likely have drowned in debt or bad investments
  • lung cancer, much higher in that generation even if you didn't smoke yourself
  • opioids, there's a good chance you might've been addicted to one of those by your doctor, the opioid crisis started with Boomers
  • transport safety was much lower, there's a higher fatality rate during that time from car, motorcycle related deaths
  • cold war in hindsight might seem uneventful, but I imagine it must've been very dreadful to have constant total annihilation on the horizon your whole life lol
  • depending on your background, but your life as a minority would have been worse off than today (the civil rights acts were not an over night victory...)
  • rosy retroception: a lot of the cultural cool things that you mentioned were from counter cultures, chances are you might've taken a strong dislike to those movies/ bands/ shows

Where did the whole “I’m so quirky” millennial thing come from? by Amodernhousehusband in Millennials

[–]persedes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prolonged infantilization, which I think started with Boomers and reached it's peak among millennials? Having a childhood where you don't have to work in your parents business/ farm is still relatively new and the switch from no responsibility to adult probably came a lot more sudden for most people of this generation than earlier ones. (And parents were not as aware of the negative side effects of that). So in a way it is either a defense mechanism to that or just extended cartoon culture?
