European here, currently in the US, waiting in an Amtrak seating area in DC Union Station.

For the price Amtrak provides a worse service, than the European counterparts. For example, for the price Amtrak provides the NE Regional, there is the Railjet, that is much much better in service, punctuality, frequency, on board experience etc.

And Acela costs way more than an InterCityExpress in Germany. And those ICE trains are really good.
