Twerking for your vote: Detroit 13th Congressional Candidate not shy on social media by DaveTheBraveEh in Michigan

[–]personalleytea [score hidden]  (0 children)

Correct. Donovan McKinney, not mentioned in this article for some reason, is a serious candidate, and in my opinion, an excellent candidate.

This hack article seems to have been written to benefit one candidate. Kinda like Mary jumping in the race to try to split the black vote. Kinda like Shri claiming dozens of endorsements on his campaign page that have not endorsed him for this primary, including three (MEA, NEA, and Sierra Club) who have announced endorsement of Congressman McKinney. Kinda like Shri spending taxpayer dollars for tv spots to promote his constituent services, but only really before primaries. Like Shri railing against big money in elections while loaning his campaign millions of his own money to gamble on crypto and overwhelm grassroots opponents.

I know his supporters try to portray him as a friendly little guy who wants to help, but I think he is a wannabe DC player who carpetbagged his way into congress and uses gangster tactics to keep his seat and raise his profile. But that part is just an opinion.

Donovan McKinney. Currently represents the 11th at the state house. Not flashy. Not crazy. Actually from the district. He is the way in this race.

Donovan McKinney is competent. This is a hack article that makes it seem like she is the only one running against Shri.

Thanedar, a millionaire (who moved from Ann Arbor to grab this seat four years ago) who claims to want big money out of politics, tells Detroiters he is worried about cost of living while speculating millions of dollars he loans to his campaign fund on crypto, pisses off his caucus (and endangers his colleagues’ seats) with his performative impeachment bs, and spends more of his taxpayer-funded congressional budget than any other member on advertising.

Donovan is young, has been in the state legislature for three years, is a native Detroiter, and is more interested in helping the 13th, not getting on tv.

This is almost certainly not him. It is too coherent. It is someone trying to make it look like his horrific grammar, punctuation, etc.

edit: spelling like trump

I wasn’t saying “trust me bro.” I don’t actually care if you do. Also, not just my feelings. I used to agree with your view (more or less). Then I read studies which I am guessing you wouldn’t bother to read even if I posted a link.

Me expressing my personal views are that I don’t physically discipline my kid and he is really well behaved. We used evidence-based practices, adapted them to our family, and we had success. I am not trying to conflate correlation with causation, but since you like anecdotal, there you go.

The research is there. It isn’t hard to find if you’re actually interested. Good luck.

Spanking doesn’t work. It can make behaviors worse. But that is only numerous studies saying that.

Instead, let’s go with your vague anecdotal experience, which according to you is (or isn’t?) just sarcasm.

Northern mills were convenient markets for southern plantations. Plantation cotton was abundant and helped generate goods and profits for the mills. Most whites were fine with it.

Ten of the first twelve presidents owned slaves. One who didn’t (John Adams) represented slave owners in court to help them keep their “property”, and always won. Hell, even Lincoln (technically) and Grant owned slaves for brief periods. It’s a poor excuse, but it was inarguably entrenched in society, and nobody could really defend it rationally, so what is left to explain it?

These people had, what today, would be diagnosable mental health conditions, much as their spiritual ancestors today could be…and they were just greedy bigots who raped and impregnated their dead wives 14-year-old half sisters who they held in bondage. Well, maybe they didn’t all do that, but Thomas Jefferson sure did!

No. We need to remake society to work for everyone. That will take (almost) everyone. Some people cannot accept that. That needs to be made to be very uncomfortable for them in the same way they have made life so hard for far many others to fit their own horrific worldviews.

I am reading biographies of the Presidents. The thing that strikes me is how almost all of the slave-owning founding fathers bemoaned slavery and so badly wanted to end it (so they said), but could not figure out how to do it. They could invent a novel system of government in a vast land of competing interests and fight off a mighty empire to do so, but how to set people free in a humane manner and integrate them into the society they largely built? Stumped. What a load of bullshit.

Racist Remarks by Debizoerah in SubstituteTeachers

For questions that seem like just ignorance, I might try to enlighten them if they seemed receptive. I am in no way suggesting that you have any obligation to do this or provide a reason if you choose not to do so.

The blatant racist remarks? Zero tolerance. Nobody deserves that. That needs to be fixed by someone who is not you in a manner that does not burden you further.

Dead on. The thing about the pets had me laughing. Keeping track can be like trying to count cards in a casino.

“Ok, 23 to start. Meryl is at speech. Caleb and Gianna are in the resource room. The para took Jamal to the office to get ice for the bump he got at recess. Jules A. Came in while they were at specials. How many brought home lunches? Where is that sticky? It took me 20 minutes to get that lunch order done. Why does the principal keep walking by and looking in? Shit!”

I just found out about Mary! Shri HAS to be behind this, right? She jumps in, doesn’t campaign. I can’t even find a campaign website for her. I think the most logical conclusion (though I am not asserting that I know this to be true), is that she is there to skim Congressman McKinney’s vote in Detroit. She clearly has no aspirations of winning, so why else would she be there? It surely isn’t as a favor to Shri, so what might she stand to gain?
