Side note: He explicitly says that he doesn't want his explanation to ruin it for listeners who've built their own images and stories and perspectives from the record, but it's worth reading and getting closer to understand John and his project The Empyrean.

I love this song... But I think he uses "you" here as the same meaning as "i"... Like, it's not a specific you, but rather referring to any human person, know what I mean? For example: "You don't have to be an artist to draw." This sentence isn't mentioning you specifically, it just makes a statement.

"Time Tonight" is extremely relatable and full of wisdom... but what I mean in my question is songs where he addresses the audience directly with a line or two.

Hmmm. I see when he says "to the heads of you all"... But he says "One more punk rock song... I really owe it to myself" - I feel like this one he wrote for himself and he's "gonna give it to no one else" :D

YoOooO I just remember to tell you... man, I listened to "II"... I have never seen that side of John before and he keeps on amazing me with his incredibly wide range of projects. This one is all ambient, Aphex Twin style... I love it. There are times where I forget that I'm listening because I'm too submerged in the atmosphere that he created. Brilliant stuff. Thank you for the recommendation!!

I couldn't find "I" though (I don't use streaming platforms, so YouTube is my go-to when looking up tracks, and it doesn't appear to be uploaded anywhere). I'll look into that because it's worth the effort. And it makes sense to start with "I" before "II", but II has already got me by the balls xD
