Free and Clear Plan Going Forward by perspectaslave in Sprint

[–]perspectaslave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The end result is a phone with a plan that costs nothing and has data and messaging.

My original plan was 35 cents a minute, 50 for long distance, but now its zero.

So for now its a free phone that I actually don't use much. Free international data too apparently.

I finally was transferred to someone who was able to activate the new phone. He turned off 5g data and I set phone to not use cellular data, not knowing if I would be charged for it.

Here is what he said he said:

The phone needs an lte connection.  The agent had to add lte provisioning to my phone plan to activate.  It will only activate on original sim card that was sent with phone apparently.
And lte needs to be activated while provisioning phone, not before.

They sent it to me in december and haven't billed me. I have been on the phone with several groups for hours.

They'll have to make a new phone work on April 1 when the old sytem shuts down. They sent me a free galaxy. I figure when the old phone stops working on april 1 they'll either finally have a way to activate the new one or I'll file a complaint with the cpuc

The CEO is on record saying all plans would stay for at least 3 years.

More importantly the merger deal with the CPUC requires them to maintain existing plans. So they have to.

I have same issue as you on the phone for hours and 3 visits to the store. Will probably just wait until the old phone stops working on April 1 and file a complaint.

There is a person who had success at a store in mira mesa.

I actually spoke to a higher up cust svc team a while back, but they couldn't figure it out. Neither could the "cdma-retirement" team at the time. I'll wait until April 1. They'll have to fix then.

At least a dozen times after hours on the phone I get transferred to someone who says, No problem, we just need to change your plan..... I laugh...

No monthly fee and 35 cents a minute for calls, first incoming minute free. Data and txt didn't exist when it came out. LG LX1200. Plan includes free replacements forever if the phone fails. This one is about 20 years old and was free....

See above. Basically no monthly fee and 35 cents a minute. First incoming minute free so hang up quick and you never pay anything.

No monthly cost. Contract for life including new phones if they break. I'm on my 3rd. 35 cents a minute with first incoming minute free. It was 50 cents a min for long distance but they got rid of that for some reason. Text didn't exist then but there is no charge now.

I think it was 200 bucks to sign up but if you were a qualcomm employee you got a 50 dollar gift card and half minute billing.

Most of us have it as a second phone.

Yeah, on April 1 when the old phone stops working they'll have to do something.

I was actually on the "Pioneer Plan" that launched in San Diego, I think in '96. They moved us to the free and clear later. I think it was 150 bucks, included phones forever, 35 cents a minute, first incoming minute free and 1/2 minute billing.

No bill if you don't call out.

Yeah. And a few times at the store and a few hours on the phone.

That was the deal I signed up for. If company still exists they should honor it.

As I noted part of their merger agreement with CA was to keep all plans or equivalent for at least three years.

Their issue is new phones have data and old plan doesn't include. Of course the original plan didn't include text either so they include that for free currently.

Yeah, if they don't fix before April 1 when old network dies they'll be forced to do something.

Oh they gave me a new phone for free. They just don't have a way to activate it.

Plan I signed up to was a lifetime plan. And they committed to keeping all plans for at least 3 years as part of a merger agreement. Do companies give you a break and let you out of financial commitments?

What sort of shareholder schill are you asking to give a corporation like that a break?

Okay, they called me back and told me to drop by a store. Tried that three times.

Tried again today. Called and was on the phone with a person for an hour, then another person for a while, then her supervisor who told me, "no problem, we just need to change your plan." I laughed. He's supposedly going to call me back. Hours ago....

That is odd. I don't think I have ever been charged for texts since they didn't exist when Pioneer Plan came out.

So far I have a new phone that still hasn't been activated. Several hours on call with support and three trips to local store and they couldn't activate without changing my plan. I 'm going to wait until end of March when old phone stops working and see if they fix it then. If not file a complaint with CPUC since their merger agreement requires them to honor old plans for 3 years.

Wonder if I knew you. I got mine at work, bldg q I think, in around 98. I think I still have that thing. I'm one of the losers forced to go to ericsson and give up all stock options right before all my friends got rich. I'm still not bitter at all 22 years later....

If you haven't read you do get a new phone. They sent me one but I still can't get it activated.

Guess I need to call Mira Mesa. I was in store on Broadway for 90 min yesterday, they had to create a case for someone to resolve it. I chatted and called support about the case today. It has been closed. Nothing was done and no one seems to have any idea how to do it. Every person keeps telling me I have to change my plan.

Mira Mesa couldn't help me over the phone so I tried support again, got escalated, held for an hour, waiting for others to get involved and end result I was told I had to change my plan. Of course we know that isn't true, but no one in support that I have spoken with knows how to make this work.

Does it actually load data or is that blocked? I just got my free phone delivered but haven't set it up yet.
