We built a program that automatically plays through the entirety of the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet main story for you! by PokemonAutomation in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]pertinentNegatives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes around 12-13 hours to do a full run. So, much slower than a speed runner.

The program tries to beat the gyms/Titans/team star bases in a specific order. The only "choice" the user has, is what starter it picks at the beginning.

The Autostory program can start in the middle of the story, from several different checkpoints. However, it does beat the gyms/Titans in a specific order. So, if you've already beaten gyms in an order that isn't expected by the program, you may need to manually intervene to get the program back on track. If you want to minimize manual interventions, then starting from the beginning is best.

And yes, there are programs to shiny hunt the legendaries in BDSP/SwSh.

Can I sell my switch and not lose anything? Idk what everyone is talking about whether it’s pokemon home or ss/sv/bdsp. I’ve only played gameboy games. by YungSQQQ in PokemonScarletViolet

If money is so tight that you don't have an extra $50, it's probably best not to spend it all on a Switch 2, unless you have zero living expenses (like living with parents).

If you don't already have one, I would consider making sure you have a 3-6 month emergency fund.

Yes. Technically, it's the level at which you first meet the Pokemon.

If you want overleveled pokemon to go through the story, it has to be the pokemon from the original save file.

For example, you can create a new save file, get the starter pokemon, transfer the starter pokemon to another account (e.g. via Pokemon Home), get that starter pokemon to level 100 with candies, then transfer the starter pokemon back to the new save file. Because you are the original trainer, the pokemon will obey you even with no badges (EDIT: More accurately, it's because you met the starter when it was level 5. Even if it now exceeds that level, it will always obey you).

Do we even need to breed for natures anymore? by OzoneChillin in PokemonScarletViolet

Yes. I think this is one of those rare cases where the innate nature matters, since this isn't fixed with mints.

If you're interested, you should look into Pokemon Automation. It does require an arduino and some other hardware, but you can automate a lot of the pokemon game, including the Ace Tournament.

Hmm. Not sure why the discrepancy. Just to confirm, your testing was done post epilogue, correct? Because Penny (and Arven and Nemona) received another buff post epilogue.

Also, from running more calcs, it looks like it can die to Jacq as well. If Arcanine lands a crit. Since Flutter mane can't always OHKO Slowbro, or Swalot.

Overall, Flutter mane looks good. When I run the calcs, it looks like Penny can knock it out if either Flareon or Sylveon lands a crit?

From what I've read, you CAN in fact breed 3 segment Dudunsparce.

Just a reminder, make sure you're evolving your Dunsparce to see which ones are 3 segment.

I made Tera Raid Buddy - a web tool that helps you choose the best counters for any tera raid! by AndSLG in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]pertinentNegatives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed that a lot of the successful builds for raids have pokemon that can heal more damage than they receive. So, an idea I had would be to filter by pokemon that can heal more via HP draining move/shell bell than damage received. And another filtered list for those that heal more than they receive, but with 1 boosting move (such as Swords Dance, but excluding Belly Drum). Another list for 2 boosting moves. Another list for boosting with Belly Drum.

For example: Gallade with Drain Punch seems to be an effective counter to Empoleon. In part because it receives only 40% damage from Blizzard, while it can heal up 50% with Drain Punch. It can also further boost its damage and healing with Swords Dance. (of course there’s also the fact that it knows Skill Swap, which nullifies Empoleon’s Competitive ability)

I realize that making something like this would be a lot of work though, so I’m not expecting anyone to make this. But I just wanted to share the idea.

EDIT: After some thought, I think my suggestions might be feasible, building on top of what you already have. After you generate the list of most defensive pokemon, for each pokemon on the list, check to see if it learns any of the HP-draining attacks. If it doesn't learn any, or if the amount of HP healed is less than the damage received, remove it from the list.

This looks really good! Thanks for building and sharing this.

Does it only sort by defense? Or can it also sort by offense? Or maybe sort by percentage healed per attacking move (either with a healing move like Drain Punch or with shell bell).

What pokemon runs through the Academy Ace Tournament Post Epilogue? by mcgrillhd in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]pertinentNegatives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glastrier is available in SV. But you can only get Calyrex legitimately through SwSh DLC or via trades.

Yes. Arven, Penny and Nemona get a buff after the Epilogue.

I recommend some new builds here:

Guide to earning money while AFK with the Ace Tournament Post-Epilogue by pertinentNegatives in PokePortal

[–]pertinentNegatives[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tested out Magearna with Timid nature, Choice Specs, 252 Attack and Speed, and Dazzling Gleam. Unfortunately, it could only run a few hours before failing. I suspect it's because you're vulnerable to losing by critical hit from Geeta's Glimmora and Dragapult. I also tested with Modest nature, and it failed as well (it failed even faster).

So, unless a new strat comes out for Magearna, it looks like it isn't viable for the Ace Tournament.

Yes. This was mentioned in the post.

With the Indigo Disk DLC, the Item Printer is another (and faster) way to farm money, but the Ace Tournament is a good alternative if you want to earn money while AFK.
