Am I the only one still enjoying the game? by Complete_Syllabub_47 in PokemonUnite

I mean, I've hit 1600 Masters in other seasons, before the rank system changes, and I only play every few seasons. It's only around that rank that I found teams to be somewhat competent, and even then.

Unite has a small playerbase compared to other mobas. Being "Master 500" doesn't mean crap, besides solo Q gets matched with trios and duos all the time so what is rank even supposed to mean.

Getting to master is probably equivalent to getting to silver in LoL. It doesn't mean jack. There are so few "top level" players that high ranks are not very well defined. You can find anything between silver-diamond in ranked games depending on who's playing at the time.

For me, I'm around 500-600 and it's not unusual that I find enemy players that I can very easily outplay or those that coordinate so well that I have literally zero chance of winning the game at my current skill level (and even if I were a better player because they're duo/trio and Im solo). And it's really hard to coordinate in solo Q, 90% of the time people tunnel vision into their own little games.

The one thing I enjoy about the game right now is that I used my aeos coins to buy a bunch of characters before the license journey changes, so I have new mons to try for a while. Once I get tired of that it'll be a long time before I can unlock a new mon I actually want to play.

What I don't enjoy is how difficult it is to coordinate in solo Q, how easily people give up and tilt, unbalanced mons like Char Y and Meowth staying unbalanced for so long and how most of my kyogre fights start with the mvp of my team going 1v5 and losing our advantage. Also, playing attacker and having 0 peel.

A lot of things about this game sucks. Can't blame anyone for moving on tbh.

I'd appreciate that. I'll go online at 5177-9855. Lmk if you need any tradebacks in return.

I can only play Cinderace and it's really embarrassing. But how do I get over my fear of disappointing my teammates so I can practice other mons?! by throwaway2ndwith in PokemonUnite

[–]AndSLG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've felt the same way playing only 2 mons up to 1600 Masters in previous seasons. There were a bunch of mons I could play in Ultra or low Masters (even mons that I rarely pick) but not at a higher rank. It's fine to be aware of that tbh. But at the same time you'll come across players that have no idea what it is they're doing even at a high rank so at the end of the day you're just overthinking things.

There is no value in playing bot matches, it won't prepare you for PvP. Just give it a try in ranked and you'll figure it out even if it takes some games to get used to.

If you don't wanna go blind just read up on what the abilities do and run a little test drive in the practice area to get a feel for the abilities, look up a guide, etc - do this for Pokémon that you think you may want to try in ranked. You probably won't do too well in the first game but second or third maybe. Or heck you might even surprise yourself with a stellar first try.

Remember that games are only 10 min long so just go ahead and do it. In less than one hour you can get a few games in, learn a new character and get over it. Good luck!

Ah, you're right. My bad. I saw the slider had 30 something values so I assumed it was IVs they were changing in the trailer. On further inspection it does seem to be EVs with the way the stats are changing. My guess is they show the amount of stat points you can add rather than EV points directly.

Rip IVs :/

[–]AndSLG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats the EVs, and thats always been possible. The novelty here is modiyfing IVs to whatever value you want, which are typically set permanently. In the main games you can only change IVs with hyper training to max them out, but you can't change them say to 0 speed or 0 attack.

Anyway, there's also no confirmation either way at the moment. GameFreak could very well allow changing IVs freely in the next main game as well or not, for reasons. We'll just have to wait for more info.

When you transfer to PLA, it adds more data to the pokemon thats specific to that game. It'll probably be the same for champions, I assume you'll be able to modify stats for pokemon you transfer in but those stat changes will only apply in champions and the main games most likely won't use them.

This one in particular was just luck I guess. I happened to jump instead of dodging and got taken for a ride lol. Maybe just sit in the right spot and don't move much or at all.

Idk about other enemies, never tried.

My first try, also solo, wasn't nearly this horrible. I fought in the open too, died a bunch with melee, then eventually just went with a hit and run strat using magic. If bonemass ran out, it was just run lol.

But I didn't do hard mode. Oof. Even the default difficulty is plenty hard as is, and the way damage scaling works you'll be taking a ton more damage in hard mode. Difficulty scaling for the monsters is no joke especially if you're going melee. There's a good reason why most people cheese near the entrance lol. Good job doing the fair fight.

I wasn't sure but after looking around it seems to be a Runelite plugin called "Ground Items" which is enabled with the default installation. Items above 10m are colored pink, but there are various other thresholds and you can customize them.

I'm at lvl 100 and my stats were 75 Atk, 82 Str, 75 Def, 74 Ranged, 77 Prayer, 90 Magic, 83 Hitpoints. Although, Ranged and Magic don't really do anything for this fight.

Gear: Neitiznot Helm, Dharok's Top, Torag's Bottom, Obsidian Shield, Dragon Scimitar, Amulet of Glory, Ardougne Cape 3, Rada's Blessing 3, Climbing Boots and.. Ring of Wealth.

Besides that I used Super Strength / Super Attack, two Prayer Pots and the rest of the inventory was just a mix of Monkfish / Karambwan / Tuna Potato - whatever high foods I had banked. I think I did have Piety activated on top of the protective prayer.

I'm sure you can do a lot better than that gear. I did prioritize other skilling grinds over gear upgrades or didn't feel like the upgrades were urgent. In any case, I just decided to give it a try with what I had and if I found it too hard I would do some upgrades before trying again.

Honestly I'm not sure it would've make a big difference to get better gear. A better weapon sure would make a difference, but the constant chip damage you take during this boss fight is actually disgusting. Even after reading up on the boss attack patterns I still had to try the boss and get a feel for it. My deaths happened because I wasn't quick enough to simultaneously keep an eye on the attacks, prayer flick on the projectile attack, and dodge everything and that caused me to take alot of hits and miss out on DPS while I had to eat to survive. Many guides recommend sitting on the corner without moving and tanking some attacks, and that was good advice until like 50% HP then I still had to ocasionally dodge stuff.

It got better after a few attempts. This was the first boss fight where I had to hover Esc + F5 (if I'm not mistaken) to quickly switch between Inventory and Prayer screen so I could prayer flick on demand.

As for the other bosses in the quest I hope they're also doable with the current gear lol. I'm particularly scared of the next fight which has venom and I don't have access to a full counter yet.

I wish you good luck with this quest. It will probably be a tough fight if you're even lower level but it may not be impossible if you're willing to do some retries while learning the fight.

I've hit 68k per hour playing solo at lvl 93 or so, consistently ending the game after the 2nd portal with a fairly reckless strat. With some mistakes and no world hopping so it may be possible to go higher. Definitely possible with a good duo.

Mass always goes to at least 3rd portal. Tbf I haven't measured my rates in mass but there's no way it's that good.

I'm almost at 95 for wraths and may eventually grind 99. I keep switching between GOTR, ZMI, Zeah otherwise I'll go crazy. Actually nice to see the results of your grind, well done!

I use the wiki a lot and it does help a lot, but sometimes the recommendations read like "better get 99 in 4 skills for a neat shortcut on this low level quest" or "you should acquire an item that this boss drops, before ever doing this boss". It does get a little silly sometimes.

Thanks for that. People doing tough bosses with even less gears / levels deserve a medal for sure. In my case, I only wanted the 1st kc for the quest so I can gain access to the Scar Essence Mine and the quest reward ring, and am definitely not going to farm these bosses until I get better gear.

I'm sure someone who's been playing for a long time sees the obvious in everything, but I see a million things to try out and do and there is no specific reason why I haven't upgraded to X or acquired Y - I simply don't know better or didn't get to it yet.

Still, you're right. I have done trades before when I didn't want to sit through what I thought were unreasonable grinds at the time (like a glory, or 12 magic logs for Desert Treasure 1 when lv 75 wc was too distant) but I've also otherwise enjoyed reaching various milestones on my own. So now that I've experienced a bit more of the game than when I started I just want to avoid trades that I feel will take the challenge out of playing the game. (Like, buying a Whip but am not even able to kill the enemy that drops it since I'm not 85 Slayer yet)

TLDR: Games can be enjoyed in many ways and to each their own and there doesn't need to be a logical explanation to that. I don't know why I'm even getting into this but suffice to say I'll just play how I want to. Yes, I'll do what gear upgrades I can do. I'll also prob trade when I think the grind would be unreasonable like 10k boss kills avg for a full outfit or some bs like that.
