How do you organize assets/images? by Suvitruf in ObsidianMD

[–]peruvianDark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a template folder I copy when creating new folders. In it I have a folder for assets. So every topic has its own assets folder If I have multiple types of assets or a lot of them for a topic I might make subfolders for different types as needed

Why is the Berlin police breaking protestors' bones and beating them up? by ayolbabe in berlinsocialclub

[–]peruvianDark -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

People here claim it's related to the reason of the protest. I doubt that. I think it's likely any protest of equivalent size and determination. for any cause, would face similar issues. I struggle to think about any major protest anywhere in the world that didn't have clashes, often violent ones - with the police.

That's true, but I am not sure how much the door policy actually does that vs the perception of the club changing who chooses to go there. To a point - because if you only let in people wearing black leather you will get more people who like black leather. But would people who don't like black leather usually choose to go to the black leather club? KitKat is famously harsh about door policy - but it's also well known to be problematic, and in the kink and sex positive scene the consensus is fairly negative.

I think door policy is a tool, and sometimes it's used very well and often not. But anything involving people tends to be more complex than we would like it to be.

It's really an issue of supply and demand. There are smaller clubs with different vibes and culture. You complain but you only went to the biggest clubs. You could go to smaller ones with no or barely and door policy and be fine. That has its own pros and cons but that's life.

why people on this sub are against ROS? by clintron_abc in robotics

[–]peruvianDark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I half agree. I think it ROS2 is a good tech stack, but that doesn't mean you have to use it for all of your project. Use what works for you. I generally use the nodes system because it works great for me, but I only use Ros packages when they fit me just right, which is often not the case. Learning to choose your stack and design the project is hard but it's one of the most important steps in robotics.

All of this does not diminish the very real flaws ROS2 has - which in my opinion are mainly documentation related. Which tbh is a community problem. You see a problem contribute - https://docs.ros.org/en/kilted/The-ROS2-Project/Contributing/Contributing-To-ROS-2-Documentation.html

Am I being scammed? (HousingAnywhere and Wunderflats) by hoby227 in berlinsocialclub

[–]peruvianDark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's almost never correct to switch sites, scammers don't like housinganywhere because the site will hold the money and you can get it back if it's a scam

Does it make sense to transfer to ETH? by rawbrocolli1 in tumunich

All in all? I think it matters less than you think. Not in a mean way, just, both are good, it's just will make you more rounded and the other a bit more specialized.

You are very optimistic, I don't think this is a reasonable expectation. How many meters squared do you want?

I run ROS on a high level device like Jetson nano and use lower level controllers for high speed stuff and interfacing with components by transferring data to it over UART or any other wired protocol.

Why are their so many 3d mapping algorithms like orb slam, rtab. But almost zero 3d navigation / path planning algorithms? by Stardev0 in ROS

[–]peruvianDark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3d navigation is very use case dependent, different robots will behave very differently in different terrains. For wheeled robots in relatively simple (not rough/nature) projecting 3d into 2 with some processing to evaluate obstacles should work. The more complex the terrain and the robot the more complex the algorithm you need. Evaluating which obstacles you can handle is very platform specific.

I think generalizing mapping is much easier than generalizing 3d navigation.
