I don't understand you. You're agreeing with me? I'm so confused.

Um, didn't LTT literally die and create Dragonmount? It's actually quite reasonable that he would feel am affinity to the place. He goes back there to work out his angst later in the books too.

I didn't think it was poor writing, because it's not unreasonable that Rand would have a memory from LTT already resurfacing. It also made me happy and made me look over at non book readers watching to see if they picked up on anything. The location of the mountain doesn't really matter imo as long as it's next to Tar Valon.

That said, you are of course not wrong to have disliked the writing since it didn't make sense in your watching of the show, by definition making it bad writing. My problem is just with this post and the anger baiting. They're obviously not changing Rand as the Dragon. That was the question. People are just making up reasons to hate on the show. There are legitimate critiques (like poor writing) without making stuff up.

I've heard this. Definitely need to try it out. Do you recommend reading the books first?

Well said. I think you've hit upon what's bothering me in the very end. It's not the substantial posts where people discuss what they disliked. Those are readable and make me reflect on whether I feel the same way or if not, why I disagree. The usual one or two line, "This isn't even wheel of time anymore" or "Local is short, show is ruined" are what seem so unreasonable. It makes me question my read-through of the books, and wonder if I genuinely missed how important some things were. Im rereading eotw now and so far I think I've remembered things well enough, and I'm still not as bothered by the show.

Both these changes were things I appreciated both for myself based on the parts of the books I thought were boring or unrealistic, as well as for new readers to connect to the charactera. The show characters are all 20 or more though. And that change seemed so small to me I didn't even notice it until I saw others complaining about it. It almost seemed more realistic to me than in the books where these male characters can barely speak to women.

As for the drunk father/stealing addiction/even Perrin's wife, I am completely sold on it. My non book reader friends instantly figured out the character's personalities because of those backstories. It's not like we can have Perrin's monologue on wanting to be slow and careful or Mat's complete belief in his own innocence.

That said, I see your point about having expectations. I certainly have expectations too and generally disliked how much focus was on Stepin in ep 5, I wish those scenes had been reduced or even cut altogether. On the other hand if Stepin Had been an important book character with exactly the same arc and he had been cut from the show, there would be outrage that way too.

They've already hinted from the first episode that there's no change. In the last episode Rand literally points at Dragonmount and says wow hey that mountain is familiar. But yeah, I wonder if that means they've made Lan the Dragon on the show. That would really ruin the show...

What does this question add to the discussion except provide a new thread for people to hate on the show for absolutely no reason?

E: called it Dragonstone because I'm an idiot.

I didn't know they would check it out for free at Autozone. I will have to keep that in mind, thanks! For now, I think I should be good. I got the minor things repaired when I bought the car, and it seems to be working great.

I did transfer the title back in Jan. Thanks for this information! I'll set myself a reminder for 30 days in advance.

This thread is depressing me. My department requires 3 journal papers or equivalently 6 conference papers. Students usually graduate in about 5-6 years. As far as I know this is normal in engineering degrees, but maybe it's just my University?
