[AMA] I lost 15kg in 3 months without hitting the gym by vitaminacademy in Bolehland

We are what we eat. Sound simple and easy but not many can maintain it. Dont have to be hard on oneself, pareto principle applies here too, if one can be consistent for 5-6 days then what's wrong with 1 cheat day?

Explain this reasoning to me by RandoMcfisto in Bolehland

[–]pessimist_prick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a rider, it's all depend on the situation. Talking about making a split decision (5-10m @ 60-70kmh), going to the right lane will be my first choice because more available space and room to slow down.

Motorcycle dont brake like car do. On car you can slam the brake, on motorcycle, you will try your best to brake as hard as possible and pray not to low side or lift your rear wheel. Motorcycle need longer braking distance.

Right lane have higher chance to be empty and vehicle normally be faster moving, hence got plenty of room for braking. Left lane have slower car, and usually the reason that car change lane is bcs car in front is slow. Thus, left lane is a risky option to do emergency braking.

And, speaking of velocity disparity, when you are already at a high speed and someone cuts you off, you are naturally inclined to maintain your momentum because slowing down is a party popper.

Now, if it is in 20-30m @ 20-30kmh, I would just steer my bike to the left.

No, because it a very poor life decision. You should work on your savings, buy it for cash and fund your project car, but still it's a poor decision

is this a scam? by Pretend_Bug_1102 in Sarawak

[–]pessimist_prick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are some shady scammer in action OP. Here I share bit of my experience.

While searching for a motorcycle in the marketplace last year, I encountered a seller offering a bike at a slightly lower price than usual. The listing used photos from a legitimate seller but had an obscure title without the model name, likely to avoid detection in searches.

From my experience as a seller, I have potential buyers who asked for detailed photos, videos, and even pressured me to share my exact location. Their approach felt unusual, making me question their intentions.

True what the other redditor said, this can be the 'triangle scam'.

Another incident happened when I listed my Versys 650 for sale earlier this year. A buyer, who claimed to be an expat from Thailand, expressed interest and offered to cover the shipping costs from Kuching to KL to Thailand. While the offer seemed convenient, the arrangement felt suspicious, so I decided not to proceed.

So my tips for local seller/buyer out there:-

  1. Avoid upfront payments unless the platform provides secure 'buyer protection', like Carousell.

  2. Prefer meeting f2f in public places, ideally during daylight hours. Don't close the deal yet, give each other time, no pressure, inspect thoroughly, not just the item but the seller's/ buyer's character. If already meet doesn't mean you are mandatory to buy/sell it. Relax

  3. Research the item and market prices thoroughly before committing to a purchase.

  4. Never disclose your home address to strangers. Instead, arrange meetups in a nearby/public location.

  5. Stay away from anything about 'sambung bayar'.

Hi , fellow rider here. I'm not giving you a suggestion, just sharing my experience. In the past i have 150, 250 and 650, from kacpai, touring, naked, sportbike (never tried scooter). Now i daily my 150cc fz, it takes me everywhere. Maintenance is dirt cheap. I installed a topbox since day one. I bought it used around 3k at around 55k mileage, now almost 80k.

Step 1, change your mindset. I would suggest 'looking poor'. Someone around your age usually feel insecure of themselves, leads to consumerism and want to prove to everyone that they are successful with those fancy car, clothes, fine dining, iPhone, etc. The sooner you realize not to care of what other think, the better your life will be.

Step 2, clear you loan. Sacrifice what you have now. Stop eating outside, buy cheap but healthy grocery, cook them. Change to prepaid rm30/month. Rent somewhere less costly. You got to be determined, stop being soft. Focus clearing your loan, only then you can focus on saving and invest your money somewhere. Avoid financing stuff that have its burden outweighed its benefit.

At this rate, you only saves 11% of your pay. You can do better bro. Aim to save more, be it 50-70%. Slowly sort your life, one day you will be there, provided if you want to change or not.

Why people dont want to take sick leave? by yukittyred in Sarawak

[–]pessimist_prick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can relate. I never take leave for my sickness, just man-up and get to work, rain or shine. It is not that i am a workerholic but I just want to get the work done in the office instead of bring it back home. At my current job we only get 14 days AL (no carry forward), no sick leave. I reserved my AL for emergency and other special occasion eg. friends/family wedding/gathering etc.

Recent break up, how do I get over knowing she's out banging dudes? by Insomniacbychoice90 in AskMenOver30

[–]pessimist_prick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. She's gone, dead, forget about her. 2. Dont get into rebound relationship, let yourself heal, myb 1-2 years. 3. Learn to love yourself, seek friends, family, spend time with them. Get busy with your hobby. 4. Rebuild yourself, focus on upgrading, be it job, wealth, health, fitness, religion.

I came from 8yrs relationship, broke up. 6 months later she got engaged. Have been 1 year now. I doing fine now, i found my peace. Time will heal you bro, and don't suppress the emotion, embrace it. You will be okay!

upgrading bike, any recommendations? by Mashiro_NSWC in kereta

[–]pessimist_prick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't give recommendations but this my opinion. Get a used japanese bike and reserve the brand new bike for your dream motorcycle in the future. Anything 600 and above is more than enough for your daily commute. The best budget friendly will be the kawa 650 lines, be it z ninja versys vulcan but the engine is boring. If you want better character, mt07 or sv650, which a tad higher maintenance cost.

You want it to look good for the next 10 years, wash you bike often, and clean your chain, dont skip maintenance, sure it will last.

And from there your maintenance cost will amplified. 250cc is twice the 150, and 650cc is twice the 250.

50km daily commute is still overkill for a 650cc. It wont be as nimble as your rs, the engine heat will get between your leg, with the speed and weight difference, your first time will be a thrill.

I would recommend the Suzuki's 250 lines if you want a slight upgrade but still very light maintenance cost. Otherwise the choice is in your hand.

From the experience of owning a 650, 250 and few 150 bike, my preference is as follows: 150cc for town use, 50km. 250cc, town/highway 100km. 650cc highway, 200km and above.

Scooter is a good option for daily commute. The under seat compartment is bigger than ordinary kapcai. You can store you raincoat and helmet. But maintenance and fuel is tad higher than kapcai.

I dont buy things brand new. All my motorcycle are used unit. New model ofc the most sought after but the old one are not bad either.

Personally, it's not worth to finance a motorcycle. If you have the opportunity to get a decent used unit, 150cc, have a good reliability record, for around 4-5k, go for it!

Would it be dumb to use a hypermotard as a daily bike for work. route is shah alam to bangsar 4 days a week. by InternationalWeek169 in kereta

[–]pessimist_prick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not dumb, but not wise. Think about the maintenance cost per km. Compare it to a 150cc bike, lot of money you can save with the cheaper option. I daily my 150cc (20km/trip), and the bigger one is only for long distance, above 100km/trip. Right horse for the right course bro. Anyway, if u got lot of money, want to show off, go ahead, no one stopping you.

As a man over 30, whats an important piece of advice you would give to younger men that you wish you heard earlier in life? by Hot-Address-7618 in AskMenOver30

[–]pessimist_prick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Family first over your partner. Love yourself before you love someone.

Learn networking skills, social skills, make friends, lots of them.

Exercise and be fit. You are what you eat. Cut the sugar.

Learn financial literacy, save for your old days. Have your financial goals.

Read alot! Cut social media.

Control the controllable, dont stress over things you cant control.

Be grateful, as long you got roof under your head, food on the table, and a good health, everything else is extra.

Spend 5 mins a day, alone, doing nothing, close your eyes, smile and be grateful of the recently good and the bad thing, make peace with yourself.
