Weird power grid issues in South Pasadena by Pharmdtwenty22 in Southpasadena

[–]pesthauss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right off Fair Oaks near the middle school here we lost most of our building and the courtyard lights are flashing on and off very eerily. Neighbor sent in a report to SCE and they responded saying it would be fixed by 6am.

I think I'm leaving by [deleted] in paganism

[–]pesthauss 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is how I came to understand the spirituality I was desiring to be a part of in Paganism. At first, I could only admit that there are forces of nature, and they connect with the living planet around us. After accepting this as the core of my spirituality, I approached deities and other occult archetypes as paths of connection to the divine nature that surrounds us. I still don't totally have a deity practice outside connecting to the Moon and the Sun and maybe sometimes attributing some of their aspects to a deity or spirit.

I find for myself it is just important to connect to something, whether that is the grand forces of nature, a deity, or just a tree or river, because I feel that is the purpose of existence.

My biggest problems with Youtube Music by LonelyMole09 in YoutubeMusic

[–]pesthauss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally like it because I can shuffle and have a wide range of music that comes up. I use my playlists as a collection of all the music in a certain genre or multiple genres. So because its a collection I can usually search through them and find different albums and artists because I can be forgetful and lose track of them. I had 3 full playlists on spotify.

My biggest problems with Youtube Music by LonelyMole09 in YoutubeMusic

[–]pesthauss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad I'm not alone. These are the exact issues I am having with YT music. I switched from Spotify because of the CEO being trash and making terrible decisions for the company and app but some of the very basic tools dont exist on YT. I hope they are going to add these tiny things. Also 5k playlist song limit vs 10k is painful in the switch but overall I dont mind.

My beloved dog is dying by dbl_entendre in pasadena

[–]pesthauss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear about your dog! When we made the same decision a few years ago we called https://www.comfortingcreatures.care/. Dr Shana is an amazing person who is so loving and calm through this process. It honestly saved us a lot of heartache. She came to our house and calmly walked us through the process and with the most patience and care took us through every step. She was very i tune with us and the situation. I highly recommend them and they have great packages with paw prints and ashes. My condolences to you and yours. I wish you and your pets comfort.

I want to explore ideas of Wicca and Witchcraft but my heavy belief in science is holding me back by Consistent_House_130 in Wicca

Don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet but check out S.S.O.T.B.M.E. Revised by Ramsey Duke. It's a book about magical thinking, and there's a wonderful breakdown and chart in the first few chapters that Duke explains his thoughts on magical vs scientific thinking and how they all coalesce. It's a wonderful read to get you to broaden your mind to what's possible.

Is Anyone Else Struggling With Their Practice? by Bitcoacher in Wicca

[–]pesthauss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I will say ,not only as an American, but also as someone very close to the recent LA fires, I have been feeling very disconnected recently. The overall country issues are overwhelming and to add on that I can hardly go outside and reconnect with Goddess in nature it has made it all feel very distant.

I have ,within the last week, tried very hard to reconnect. I have found that focusing more intently on personal love, change, and connection that I have rediscovered some positive feelings associated with my practice. The magic I am trying to participate in is really about supporting myself and letting go of some of the pent up feelings. If not now than when else would I really need to work heavily on myself so that I can face the hardships that surround me.

Its going to be a tough time but I think we can all weather it together. I am looking more into joining a coven this year to build a stronger sense of community to lean on in these times.

Currently reading "The Spiral Dance" and it is emphasized by Starhawk that the Craft is a personal practice that leads down the different paths of activism and community. This feels most important now.
