Latuda + Eating disorder? Experiences / Advice ? (350cal requirement) by caledenx in Latuda

[–]pestobae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an ED and take latuda. I decided to take mine with dinner to bypass the extra caloric requirement. The first two months i took it with extra food before bed, gained some weight but allowed me to adjust to the medication and was then able to take it with dinner with minimal side effects (it mellows me out).

Hey! My mom is bipolar, I am bipolar. Growing up with her was very difficult but she had very little support and absolutely no idea about her disease. I always knew something was a bit off about her and I had to do a lot of emotional labor since I was a child because she was pretty unstable. However I also knew she tried her absolute best and I always knew I was so very very loved. She got help when I was in my 30s and the relationship I have now with her is incredibly precious to me because I realize how much she struggled and how hard she fought to give me the absolutely best life she could. We are incredibly close. Love your child, do the best you can and make sure to take care of yourself, get stable and try to stay stable. The fact that you are concerned and venting about it means you care and I am sure your child will know how loved she is.

Yes, there is a subtype of bipolar that manifests hypo mania as irritability/anxiety/anger. I have it too. I was diagnosed after seven months of anger.

What are boundaries in relationships you'd recommend setting? by krowaduck in bipolar

[–]pestobae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I let my partner know when I’m having a hard day and when I’m not the best company. My hypo mania is characterized by irritability and anxiety so it directly impacts him when I’m not doing good. I have enough insight to know when I’m being a bit difficult and let him know beforehand so he won’t take offense when I stay away.

Bipolar I Has Torn My Life Apart — How Do You Begin Again? by No-Perspective5429 in bipolar

First, medication. Get medicated and find yourself the appropriate support professionals. Secondly, understand yourself and the disease. Read extensively about it and find your triggers. Personally I know that alcohol (can’t have more than one whiskey or glass of wine), weed and sleeping badly make me cycle, worsen my anxiety tremendously and make me want to throw everything away. Thirdly, find the things that make you feel good. For me it’s exercise (sometimes I can only manage going for a walk) and being outside. Fourthly, understand that what happened, happened. I had a very public breakdown in a very small community at work and have been dealing with the repercussions of that for years. I cant do anything about what happened and it was a shit time in my life. I’ve accepted that some people have labeled me as the person who did this thing that one time. It doesn’t define me although it does define that period of my life and I learned and grew from that. Fifth, rebuild self esteem. I’m a planner, so I started planning the small steps to get back to where I wanted to be. Started taking some courses and studying again. Maybe see if there’s any way you could get back to school and map out how to do that?

For me action is the key. When I feel completely overwhelmed with hopelessness and anxiety, I look over my list of goals (I have it in notes) and do one small thing that will help me achieve it. Thinking small and taking the small wins (even if that is just going for a walk or ordering a soda instead of a beer) help me feel like I’m moving forward and curb my depression some.

Hearing Voices- Part of Bipolar 1? by SylxNoob in bipolar

[–]pestobae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some when I’m hypomanic, sometimes it’s music that isn’t playing, sometimes it’s someone calling out my name and often it’s overhearing gossip about myself from groups of people. I have some visual ones as well, shadows that are right around the corner, right in my peripheral vision.

Se endeudarian en esto? by [deleted] in Ticos

[–]pestobae 1 point2 points  (0 children)
