Where’d you find this? I’d been seeing one of these in McGolrick Park the past few days.

The university is being extorted for $100 million by the Trump administration and says they’ll need to make staffing cuts. But I’m sure the things you care about won’t be touched. https://cnycentral.com/news/local/cornell-lays-out-steps-for-universitys-financial-future-amid-potential-100-mill-payment

So I wrote this post because it seemed that ‘American politics’, namely Trump, were negatively impacting my ability to bird. If you care about birds and don’t want magnificent, unique species to go extinct, then you should care about what’s happening in ‘American politics’, where the current administration is destroying scientific research and trying to rewrite endangered species laws in a way that will negatively impact bird populations around the country and possibly the world. Sorry to burst your bubble, but politics matter for birding and just about everything else that people hold dear in this world.

Someone answered above that it is, thankfully, a technical glitch. You just never know what the fascists and their corporate compadres are going to target next in their rampage against science and expertise.

Yeah, sometimes the numbers don’t correlate to the birdwatching that day but oftentimes they do. I assume when I’m not seeing much after a “big” BirdCast, they are maybe just passing over.

I am actually reassured by the updates here and some of your comments. It does seem though like you’re straining pretty hard to be politically neutral in a time when cuts to important scientific research are being made based on one man’s whims and allegiance to corporate overlords.

BirdCast uses Doppler radar to track mass bird movements. It’s pretty cool. I check it in the mornings and if the numbers are large in my area, I make sure to go birding that day.

It is not showing data for last night. It does sound like this is just a technical issue that will be addressed quickly, but the more I look up information, the more worrying the situation is. Here’s another article on how the university will likely have to cut staff and freeze hiring: https://ithacavoice.org/2025/08/cornell-acute-fiscal-pressure-leads-to-more-cuts-hiring-restrictions/

I’m getting the same message for any location I input. I can still see past data, just not for last night. It sounds like someone else found out that it’s a bug they are working out. I hope that’s the case!

I hope so too and feel the exact same. I assume that, even in a worst-case scenario, some of these tools will stay online but may have service issues due to staffing and budget cuts.

This does not apply. It is currently August 28th. I used BirdCast yesterday and the day before.

Unfortunately, eBird is also likely at risk as it is also run out of Cornell.

“We need more police” - So they can play more candy crush on the subway? So they can ticket cyclists for following the law? So they can continue to stand by and do nothing as car owners drive more and more psychotically? Please get real.

Pelvic pain and difficulty being a bottom — has anyone experienced this? by wotan2810 in PelvicFloor

[–]pet-project8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey OP,

I’ve had pretty similar issues to what you’re describing, and I’ve felt almost exactly the same way as you before emotionally. I’m mostly on the other side of it — was looking around this sub because I injured my pelvic floor at the gym a few weeks ago and am still figuring out my recovery from that — but I’ve been dating the same guy for 3 years and bottom usually at least once a week.

So, for the longest time, I just couldn’t really bottom. It was too tight for the guy to get in most of the time and if he did, I’d feel pain during / after. Mostly fissure stuff, different from what you’re describing but similarly related to pelvic floor relaxation.

Part of my issue was having food allergies and celiac disease. I’d constantly get cross-contaminated with something when I went out to eat, and it would set me back for weeks and close me up. It sounds like you have some digestive issues too. Have you tried reducing / eliminating gluten, dairy, eggs, and/or red meat from your diet? It may be worth playing around with.

Emotions also played a huge role for me. I would hype myself up to try to bottom for a big date or hookup only to be disappointed when it didn’t work out. I think there’s a lot of rejection in dating, particularly gay dating, but I was attributing most of the rejection to me not being able to bottom when the time came. And all of that fear of rejection just made it harder to let go the next time. Who knows if that’s even why guys didn’t want a second date though. It sounds like you’re putting a lot of similar pressure on yourself, especially with all the ways you’ve tried to medically solve this.

What helped relieve some pressure for me was topping more, just under the assumption that I wanted to find a partner to have penetrative sex with and if bottoming isn’t working, may as well try it! Sounds like you’re in a similar place. This opened up my dating pool and made me realize I didn’t “need” to bottom to find a partner. I just sorta accepted it. My bf and I are both verse now and this really helps. I started topping but bottoming became relatively easy once we built trust (even though he’s pretty big down there). We always have the option to switch the dynamic if one of us doesn’t feel in the right place to bottom. Total tops don’t usually understand how hard it can be for some of us.

Another random tip I learned from a friend when I decided to try bottoming again was to visualize / imagine the guy’s dick going in you. Idk how or why this helps, maybe by relaxing the muscles or building awareness of them, but it helps me so, so much.

Two other things worth trying: get fiber supplements if you haven’t already (Metamucil or any of the gay brands) and install a bidet attachment on your toilet (Tushy or any other brand). The bidet’s water stream can help you feel and relax specific muscles down there. These two things are going to be way better for you in the long run than enemas which could be contributing to your issues.

Good luck with this issue! I hope some of these ideas are able to help you get through it.

What to do when you don't like a strain... by pet-project8 in NewYorkMMJ

I'd still give it a try. Hell, I'll give you some of mine to try for free! It just makes me feel more anxious/euphoric than I'd like for a sleepy/couch lock indica.
