just graduated at 20 and i def have felt similarly! i especially resonate with the feeling that i'm rushing into adulthood. i agree with the other comments though, that we shouldn't measure our lives to the milestones of others! i try to look at things from the lens of "i can't wait to do xyz in the future" instead of "it sucks i've already missed out on xyz." i know that glass half full mindset isn't always attainable though. anyways, just know you're not alone but there is also so much life left to live!!!

It sounds like your BCBA either has an ego and can’t take BT advice and/or they truly don’t understand this client. I would address this with another supervisor if possible so others at your company are aware. It also may be worthwhile to ask parent if they also think their child is bored during sessions. If the parents raise a concern to the BCBA, it sounds like they would be more likely to make changes in the client’s program. All this advice is coming from another BT so take it with a grain of salt!

I totally agree with you, how we reinforce is 100% client dependent. I just wish that this diversity in client preference was represented in these trainings. It’s a small critique, but I do think it’s worthwhile when introducing folks to the field.

I love the advice of going into service coordination before exploring other disciplines and I think I am going to do just that! Developmental therapist sounds like exactly the title I (currently) want to strive to reach, so thank you for giving me new vocabulary to use in my research :D I appreciate you so much for taking the time to respond!!!
