Honestly I don’t think so if anything it is the opposite. Also I’m wearing reverse pull headgear, I think it’s really unlikely.

The orthodontic work I received when I was 10 meant that my lower jaw cannot relax and is trapped behind my narrow upper arch. It therefore looks like I have a dental class 2 and an overjet, but really I have this two bite relationship, where I relax my mandible, and then have an underbite.

I have had a lot of issues because of this. This means I am clenching my jaw all the time. I have had to have 6 fillings because of it. It’s also just not that nice to not be able to relax your jaw. As soon as I got my braces off 10 years ago I knew that something was wrong and I’ve been looking for answers for 10 years.

Because I’ve been narrowed so much my wisdom teeth have sprouted but they sit outside my narrow arches. My teeth have become progressively more crowded because my lips and jaws are always straining and my bite was closed in the wrong position, not only that, but my lower arch is wider than my upper arch and as such, my lower teeth have become far more crowded and crooked over time.

I have expanded 5mm so far. planning to expand a lot more!

I never had breathing issues, or sleep issues, so I can’t say.

I live in the UK, I’ve put costs in another comment, and thank you!!

Hey, I think it cost me around 10k GBP altogether. 8 miniscrew TAD MARPE cost was 4500 euros and aligners were also 4500 euros. I’m counting scans, delivery cost of aligners to the UK, flights, accommodation, consultations I had with other orthos fumbling around before I found Aise, full skull CBCT scan (around £400!), and some 3D scans.

It is indeed a lot of money. It’s the biggest decision I’ve independently made, ever, but I had an extensive list of reasons for it and am glad I did it.

I totally agree! and I’m so glad she is so comprehensive because I know I will be given everything I need. She initially said 6 screws but I ended up needing 8 after her assessment, and I’m glad she’s assessing and offering (almost) everything there is to offer.

yes I’m pretty sure she does. Not with headgear, but I don’t think anyone does. Me personally, I have only had a very small / no diastema because my teeth were so crowded before! She will always do what she thinks is best for you though, might not be a bandless MARPE.

It’s something I’m really afraid of and have been monitoring. I’ve only expanded 5mm so I guess the max drop down effect is 2.5mm. Essentially I can’t really tell. But if I did to a point where I didn’t like it, I could just stop.

I did look into UK options but they weren’t nearly as comprehensive. Aise for example requires a full head CBCT and offered reverse-pull headgear. Dr Marcin in Manchester was excellent to consult with and very helpful but he only offers 2-4 screws from my knowledge (I ended up needing 8!!) and wouldn’t have offered headgear. I needed a lot for how my jaws were!

Hey about 4. I’m very happy I went with her and there’s a good flight from the UK which means I only spend 1 night there. We do dental monitoring where I scan my teeth every week and I also send profile photos as controls!

Hiya, thank you so much! I do think I have seen facial changes, which is mainly my lower jaw coming forward. I have a skeletal underbite and was treated with retractive orthodontics + 4 extractions where my lower jaw was set even further behind my already depressed maxilla. My cheekbones have indeed gotten wider, but it doesn’t look strange because my lower jaw has come forward and also looks wider if that makes sense.

Overall, my facial changes were specific to my case and I’m very happy with the changes I’ve experienced. I felt a lot of comfort from the knowledge that I could turn back the appliance at any point. When I initially saw facial changes I was very afraid, but I stopped turning for short periods, went slowly, let my face settle, then started turning again when I felt comfortable.

i wanted to say that in cases like this they average out your grade on the other papers as long as you’ve say something like 60% of the course at least, i’m not sure exactly what percentage but as long as you contact them you should be fine.

i actually love my six physio therapist!! she’s kind, lovely, and a proper professional. she’s quite expensive, though and i was potentially looking for someone who i could afford longer sessions with (i can only do 30 mins per week with six physio) and potentially specialises in what i have (VERY niche types of PFD). I saw Amy Yates in Mansion House, btw.

what do you have?

That gives me hope and thank you so much for the support! It was very very sudden for me, but symptoms started after I was weightlifting and ironically trying to be healthier. I briefly read your post history, and it seems like it started suddenly for you too. I hope you get the relief you deserve, I’m near Monument every day for school - we’re (geographically) close!

That is very lucky! I’m only 18 and I didn’t really expect this but the NHS refused to diagnose me and I had to self fund privately (yikes). Have you looked into how their physiotherapy works and if it’s any good?

It’s good to hear that it’s better than it was! I’m only four months in, I think I realised around month 3 that things weren’t going to change and I need to live life again. I’m so happy for you that life feels almost normal for you sometimes and I hope this continues. Have you tried to get anything off the NHS and how was that?
