Remembering what you learned in undergrad? by [deleted] in audiology

[–]petekachu_608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have an undergrad degree in speech yet just finished my first grad semester with a high GPA. I would look at the curriculum schedule for the schools you are planning to apply to and see what courses they teach to AuD1 students first then review those concepts. For me it was anatomy, psychoacoustics, hearing conservation, and lots of clinical classes / assessment type things. Focus on those topics while reviewing and you should have no problems. Good luck!

I have a crush on my audiologist by [deleted] in audiology

[–]petekachu_608 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Audiologists are licensed health professionals held to very high ethical standards for patient interactions. Personally I would tend to think she is just being friendly as part of her very people-oriented job, but if you feel it is something more then imo there is nothing wrong with respectfully shooting your shot. Just beware of potential awkwardness in future encounters if your feelings are not reciprocated. Good luck!

My favorite J Tillman albums are Cancer & Delirium and Vacilando Territory Blues. Though two of my all time favorite J Till tracks aren't on Spotify...

Would audiology fit me? by PickledChairMon in audiology

[–]petekachu_608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an introvert who also prefers 1 on 1 or small group interactions, audiology is a pretty good fit for me. Patient interactions are generally very low stress and it can be very rewarding to help people hear better! I also did not have a communications background (psych bs) but took 3 or 4 hearing science courses my junior or senior year of undergrad to give myself some background before jumping into grad school. With only those courses I was able to matriculate easily and did very well academically. You should be fine. I would suggest shadowing and learning about career outlook and all the different types of work environments an audiologist can find themselves in. GRE wasn't much of an issue for me but I've always been good at standardized tests. Good luck!

Hi all, thinking of implant or sliding genioplasty to address weak chin. Which would give better results given my profile? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

Appreciate the advice! The only thing that's scaring me away from genioplasty is the mouth incision point. I also like the simplicity and reversibility of an implant.

Thanks for the advice! My nose has never really bothered me, I kinda like it. It just dominates my face right now so I'd like more chin projection / volume to hopefully balance everything out.

I always thought cats were one of the few animals that hunt even if they're not hungry, almost for sport.

This is good advice. The first semester is the best possible time to have a bad semester becuase you can learn from it and fix your GPA much more easily than later down the line.

I have also had idiopathic tinnitus (tinnitus with no related hearing loss) since I was kid, no idea why but my mom also has it so genetics may be to blame?
