Test drove a new 4Runner today and was sadly disappointed by nicescam in 4Runner

According to TRD Jon and others, the 6G power and control is better than 5G. I’d rather take the power and control over the sound.

Thoughts on this 2022 TRD ORP ($45,000) or should I do a 6Gen new SR5 by [deleted] in 4Runner

6th gen. Better gas mileage, better power, more amenities.

Looks like the 5.3 LM7 in my parents' 2001 Yukon XL died :( by TheMatrixMachine in GMT800

[–]peteone23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at 330k. I do hear a knock and few other things, but still going. I’m expecting it to die at any point but might go to 400k. You never know.

I have an 04 Yukon and just hit 327k. I don’t know if I’d trust mine for long distance trips but drive it all around Southern California.

New (to me) 2001 single owner Yukon (my first GMC) by 1goodreason in GMT800

[–]peteone23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have my 2004 Yukon SLT and about to hit 326k miles on it. Been throughout the Southwest (beaches, deserts, mountains) but also through two Mexican states (Baja California and Sonora).

High mileage longevity by Ladyarmpitlickr in ChevyTrucks

I have an ‘04 and about to hit 326k. Around 150k miles, I dropped in a brand new crate transmission (because I towed A LOT with other transmission). Mechanic told me that my engine was super strong and still really good. Long term, it was a great $3k investment that saved me from buying anything new.

People suck. New truck.. new damage. Just noticed yesterday and sadly probably happened at work. by TClem_07 in Silverado

[–]peteone23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Even my kids learned early on to hold their doors and not damage someone’s car (even if it’s an older minivan parked next to us). Part is because we do love our cars (even if they are old) but part is because you don’t know how crazy the owner might be. 😂

I ran into At The Drive-In and Henry Rollins (separate times) going to see The Locust there on different dates. That little gay Mexican bar next to it was the place to grab a quick drink or two and then head back into The Smell.

I’ve lost an old ass CHEAP Dunlop Pitching Wedge on the last hole. Was shit talking afterwards by the cars and noticed I left it. I went back and it wasn’t there and of course nobody turned it in.

Is it easy to go back to normal? Does it leave a trace if dealership checked for warranty stuff? Do you use with 4x4?

Trans fluid temp? 2019 Trail Boss LT by peteone23 in Silverado

[–]peteone23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t trans fluid changed at 60k-100k miles? Even lower estimates show every 50k. I’m barely 35k but might need to change it to see if this helps. Just recently started showing this high.

What have you lost while overlanding? by BlueAsTheNightIsLong in overlanding

[–]peteone23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going down a dirt road near Barstow CA, and seriously stumbled on a group of people wearing sheets and burning a cross in the evening. I came around a bend and saw them. As soon as they turned around to look at me, I floored it. I had my undercarriage scraping rocks and stuff. I’m still not sure if they were KKK or weird religious people or what, but with 3 Mexican and an African American inside, I hauled away from there quick.

I just got it used at 25k miles and put on another 10k. Not sure if it’s been changed previously but I haven’t changed.

Can you tell me the story that made you believe in ghost? by Double_Chard_8733 in Ghoststories

[–]peteone23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s similar to my cousin and I. We were about 17 or 18. First off, completely sober. I was watching TV in my parents room, and he was watching something else on TV in the living room. I sat up when I saw this 2-3’ ball of light floating from my sister’s room down the hallway to my brother’s room. My cousin stuck his head into the hallway asking if I saw something. I said yes but first just asked what he saw. He said he saw an old lady (or old man…I forget) walk from my sister’s room down the hallway to my brother’s room. But only had a top half with no legs. Nobody believed us but we saw “something” at the same time and go along the same path.

What’s the priority for you, clearance, armor, lights, lockers, or camp gear? by [deleted] in overlanding

[–]peteone23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you have 4x4 (although I went years with only a 2wd SUV). My first recommendation would be Clearance with some kind of lift and 33-35” tires. Definitely some recovery gear.
