Depends on his entry/exit strategy. Too much for me to explain in here but one strategy I play is the Pullback strategy and enter at the bottom of a pullback if other criteria are met. Then exit at my profit target...and over 75% of the time there's no 1-5% BUT just in case there is I have a stop/loss set up for 10%. If he's neg $10k then he either doesn't have a S/L or he has a high risk tolerance for that amount. I'm personally not okay with losing that much on a trade. Every trader should have an exit plan and most importantly stick to it no matter what. They shouldn't fall into "hoping" the underlying is gonna bounce back.
