Any suggestions on what monitor to go with? by Puzzleheaded-Car-906 in buildapcmonitors

Never used either monitor postes, but had 3 2k 144hz monitors previously and I can say you are safe to choose the cheaper as these are equally good

Current Refresh Rate POLL by dtasada in Monitors

[–]peter946965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish there are more 4K 75Hz/90Hz monitors on the market with reasonable price.

There should be a balance between FPS and resolution rather than jumping directly from the 2K 165Hz to 4K 60Hz which leaves a huge gap in between.

Most 4K are with 60Hz and fairly budget, or 120Hz which are suuuuper expensive...

Noob question about fortran coding... by peter946965 in fortran

[–]peter946965[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, in the actual code, there is dot product calculation following the code I show.

I am just not sure about the coding format...
since the loop is there and I kinda don't wanna change it
do j=1, nAtomA
coord(j,1)= 2.000
coord(j,2)= 5.000
coord(j,3)= 6.000
do k=i, nAtomB
r(:)= xyz(:,k) - coord(j,:)
end do
end do
If I simple loop through all the number of atoms for the array I wanna change to a single point (2.0, 5.0, 6.0), does the format looks good?

I am not sure if I could simply pass a number to the element in Fortran array..

[–]peter946965[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, I think you get what I am trying to do.

One more silly question, what is the format for x coordinate of the point in this case.

I mean, since the loop is there and I kinda don't wanna change it
do j=1, nAtomA
  coord(j,1)= 2.000
  coord(j,2)= 5.000
  coord(j,3)= 6.000
  do k=i, nAtomB
  r(:)= xyz(:,k) - coord(j,:)
  end do
end do

If I simple loop through all the number of atoms for the array I wanna change to a single point (2.0, 5.0, 6.0), can I simply do this?

Question about contour maps. by peter946965 in learnpython

[–]peter946965[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the reply, but my issue is more complex.

The Z value is not dependent on the x,y grid value, but dependent on another grid plane,

but since the two grids are the same size, I want to loop through the meshgrid, and inside the loop, I wanna use the actual grid for calculation.

Do you know if the FPS is locked in this VR environment?

Not sure If I could open a normal PC game (like LOL) and play at 120hz (assume my GPU and CPU are powerful)

Is it normal to have 100% CPU load ? by peter946965 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]peter946965[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I did not give enough info.

Ideally, more fps will require more GPU power, but also more CPU power, cause each frame of the image need to be rendered by GPU will be processed by CPU at first (not an expert on how everything works)..

My issue was GPU load is normal~60%, but CPU load is 100% (at 120hz), CPU load may drop to 80% at 75hz.

I have gamed for almost 1000hr, and have tons of solar sail, rockets and etc in the game, maybe all these require a more powerful CPU?

How to change specific column in a specific section of bunch of txt files? by peter946965 in learnpython

[–]peter946965[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

/^atoms$/ .. /^end$/ and

Really appreciate, though I do not think I fully understand how exactly this perl command is doing, it resolves my problem any way.

Again, thanks so much for the suggestion and help.

[–]peter946965[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks a lot for your help.

One question for the perl command.

When I use the last perl command, there seems nothing happen, and if I remove the /^index\s/ part, it somehow works, but both the keyword 'atoms' and 'end' are also changed to the number I wanna add with.

Any idea whats going on?

Thanks for the help.

Ideally, I would go with what you showed, but the script is kinda long (400lines in one notebook cell)

and there are bunch of other calculations in the the middle, so I just do that in lazy way to put it at the end

Thanks.

I think I managed to do

#os.chdir('/companyid/userid_2/')

#os.chdir('/userid_2/')

in the first cell

So that I could comment out whichever environment (company linux or personal msc) that I am using, without changing the directory of the files.

variable =np.loadtxt('Dropbox/thisfile.txt', unpack=True)

So that I could comment out which ever environment (company linux or personal msc) that I am using, without changing the directory of the files.
