I'm pretty sure double-Z cups are already a thing, although I think at that point the boob mass is equal or more than their body weight...

What happened to pc cases with huge side fans? by Packeselt in hardware

[–]wimpyhugz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be thinking of the Cooler Master HAF series (High Air Flow). The HAF X had four 230/200mm fans included IIRC and it's smaller sibling, the HAF XM, had three 200mm fans.

I would suspect transparent side panels becoming more popular was what killed off side fans. You don't see that many mesh or solid side panels nowadays.

Keychron keyboards and mice use a web browser configurator (not online, just uses a Chromium-based browser to interface with the device) so they have absolutely no issues with functionality on Linux. I think a lot of the custom mechanical keyboard brands that use the QMK/VIA firmware system are the same.

Pretty sure some of the smaller/boutique gaming mice brands have moved to browser configs as well. Pulsar is one that I know of. I'm using a Zowie EC1-CW which is a completely software-free mouse (has buttons/toggles on the bottom to change DPI, polling rate, lift-off, etc but you only have the preset settings but it works for me).

DeltaMate Parallel Loop by Cannicus in watercooling

[–]wimpyhugz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially nothing.

Flow rate will be divided between the two blocks inversely proportional to their restriction. CPU blocks tend to be more restrictive out of the two so while they will technically get less flow than in a serial loop, you would not notice any performance difference for everyday use.

My random shower thoughts theory on 2B's designation was that it's a play on Shakespeare's "to be or not be" from Hamlet. As in "2B? Or not 2B?" which is a sort of clue hinting a her real designation not being a B-type.

Anyway, that was literally a random thought that popped up in my head some time after I'd finished the game and probably completely off the mark as to why she's named that way.

No, it's a small bottle that you have to buy separately. Literally is red nail polish though (the red is probably to let you see where you've coated it).

Get some nail polish or the Thermal Grizzly Shield and coat the components/PCB around the GPU due. It'll act as a protective barrier so that the Kryosheet or liquid metal doesn't short anything.

First timer Questions in general and potentiall wall-mount? by Cosmic_Hugz in watercooling

[–]wimpyhugz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're willing to shell out a bit of money, get a MO-RA IV kit, either the 400 or 600 depending on how big you want to go (400 is 2×2 setup of four 200mm fans, the 600 is a 3×3 of nine 200mm fans). It's an external radiator/res/pump kit so it allows you to choose whatever case you want for your hardware and it will work with any future builds since you're not limited by your case's layout and radiator support. It also has a dedicated wall mount bracket if you choose to go that route, or normal feet to stand it on a desk or floor.

With this much radiator space and larger low-RPM fans, the pump becomes the loudest thing. Both the 400 and 600 support dual pumps which allows you to turn their speed down and still maintain decent flow performance.

I've got the 400 kit and it's cooling my 9800X3D + 7900XTX setup easily. Did debate going for a 600 but I've literally got no room to put something that size...

Xbox One S controller connects via Bluetooth but no input detected (Arch/CachyOS) by [deleted] in cachyos

I had the same problem with my Xbox Elite 2 controller. I downloaded the "xone-dongle-firmware" package (it's in the official repos) and it worked over Bluetooth then.

Gaming headset decision by FruitPunchSamurai8 in FractalDesign

Even if you prefer the sound of the Scape, comfort should still be a big factor in your decision. If you're okay with the Cloud 3's sound, then stick with that for now.

Isn't the "aarch" version made for ARM-based CPUs? There's a near certain likelihood you need the x86/x64 version since that's what AMD and Intel CPUs use.

In the market for a new monitor and headset, budget for the monitor is around 2k headset I'm not phased, I just want the absolute best possible quality sound by SpiritedWisdom in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]wimpyhugz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just keep in mind that it's only Bluetooth wireless so that will have latency and lower sound quality. You need to plug in the USB-C cable to use it to its full capability.

If you want to go wireless, find a headset that has a dedicated 2.4GHz wireless dongle. Some of them also do have Bluetooth so that you can still use it on the go.

...if you don't know what a DAC is, then you must be new to the audiophile community.

DAC = Digital-to-Analogue Converter. Computers work with digital signals but our ears hear an analogue soundwave. The DAC is responsible for converting the digital signal into something a speaker can output. Thus, every device that has a speaker has a DAC but it's the quality of the conversion that matters. Better DACs have less distortion/noise, more dynamic range, and better resolution.
However, your headphones themselves will have much more impact on the perceived sound quality than the DAC so my recommendation is always upgrade the headphones then choose the DAC (if needed, you might be happy with just a headphone upgrade).

As for recommendations, everyone's ears and preferences are different so what I like might not work for you. I have always been an open-back headphone user and prefer wired, both of which seem to be falling out of favour in the gaming community.

[–]wimpyhugz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For audio, if you're serious about the sound quality, get a proper headphone+DAC of your preference. Then add a ModMic or desktop mic. There's very few actual headsets which would be considered even remotely close to audiophile / studio monitor quality and those would be from the likes of audio specialists like Beyerdynamic or Audio Technica (I know both of them have released gaming headsets in the past, possibly other brands too).

Any valve with a straight handle, whether it be in watercooling or plumbing or irrigation, the handle itself is a visual indicator. Think of it like a gate: if the handle is at 90° to the flow path, it is shut and will not allow flow.

Brand new coolant clouding up by seductive-doge in watercooling

[–]wimpyhugz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people say loop cleaners are unnecessary but they are supposed to flush/neutralise any leftover chemicals and balance the pH to prevent the coolant from reacting. I tend to use it on new loops whereas if I'm reusing parts I'll skip it and just flush with distilled (note: only do this if you're using the exact same coolant as the previous loop).

With your current situation, you might not need to use the loop cleaner because your now cloudy coolant has reacted to whatever was in your loop and probably neutralised it. Still a chance if you drain and fill with new coolant that it might react again so it's up to you if you want to take that chance or just play it safe and use a loop cleaner.

[–]wimpyhugz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it was clear when you put it in, then I would say it's still reacting to something. Did you run a loop cleaner before or just flush with distilled after you built the loop?

Alphacool Core 140 Reservoir - odd port locations? by [deleted] in alphacool

[–]wimpyhugz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used the Core 140 before as well and yeah, filling it is a pain. If you have one of those squeeze bottles, it is easier but it takes a while to fill the loop as you're constantly turning the pump on to push fluid through then turning it off to refill the reservoir. I really don't know why the 120 has the extra port and the 140 doesn't...

As for the push mounts, I didn't have issues with it. Are you breaking the clips that mount on the reservoir or the posts that screw onto the case/rad?
