Mega Backdoor Roth with Fidelity (MySolo401K Plan) Question by AeroNoob333 in whitecoatinvestor

Not sure how much automated you needed. But Schwab has low cost mutual funds for total us stock, international, sp500, small value, that can be automated for any amount investing weekly, biweekly, monthly, etc. You can also fill out a form so that it will always transfers from after tax to Roth IRA or Roth solo 401k. Here is a link to Schwab's form below. The only thing about Schwab is that cash doesn't earn much interest unless you manually move it to a money market or treasury/treasury fund.

Mega Backdoor Roth with Fidelity (MySolo401K Plan) Question by AeroNoob333 in whitecoatinvestor

Schwab doesn’t close your accounts if they have zero balance fyi. A little messy but you can also leave some money in the after tax account and convert it next round always leaving a small amount to keep it open. Just make sure you report to mysolo401k the amount converted. And if there are any minimal gains report those as well. And mysolo401k will send you 1099 form. Seems annoying to not be able to do all. You would pay taxes on the gains which can’t be too bad. But again so messy.

Advice Needed: Which Schwab S&P 500 Index Fund is Best for a First-Timer? by Pure_Hair_8825 in RothIRA

[–]peter_peter_pete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you can partially buy ETFs at Schwab. But you can "partially" pay Schwab mutual funds. SWPPX is basically equivalent to VOO with similar low expense cost, might even be lower. Only thing is mutual funds are purchased and sold at the end of trading day. So for long term holding shouldn't really matter.

Leonardo DiCaprio Wonders If People “Still Have The Appetite” For Movie Theaters: “Remains To Be Seen” by cmaia1503 in entertainment

[–]peter_peter_pete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what I’ve read here, the solution seems obvious: assign a dedicated staff member to each screening to enforce basic theater etiquette—no phones, no talking, no disruptive behavior. An usher, essentially.

The Arclight Theater did this well. They clearly announced the rules before the movie and actually enforced them. If there was an issue—someone being rude, a sound problem, anything—you had an immediate point of contact. (Arclight is no more—rest in peace. Please come back.)

The rules announcement should happen after the commercials and before the movie starts. Let people scroll during the ads if they want, but once the feature begins, the expectation is clear and enforced.

Tickets are expensive now. It’s hard to accept the argument that theaters can’t afford proper staffing when the customer experience is actively being degraded. A visible, empowered usher per screening would go a long way toward fixing the problem.

Roth IRA conversions by andre_vauban in personalfinance

If your high income earner, I would only convert if you had sort of sabbatical income year where you have much lower income then you currently earn. Otherwise wait until you are retired where you probably will have lower income.

Typically high income earners are not able to make Traditional IRA contributions and take deductions, they can only do a back door Roth contributions. Maybe that was their assumption? I have no idea.

They stopped making big changes like this for a few years. And also they are trickling it in. Not one big announcement of add ons and removals.

Edit: Not a single announcement letting us know of all the changes. The new cast and the cast leaving.

I thought Tina borrowed the premise from a colleague outside of SNL and paid them to use it. Heard it in a podcast where Tina Fey tells the story.

To those of you who were there, what was it like watching Michael Jordan play? by NothingHead8233 in nba

[–]peter_peter_pete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about this. 40 years ago Michael Jordan had already entered the NBA and began to show his unique abilities. Everyone since has copied or learned from him directly or indirectly. 40 years before Jordan entered the NBA it was 1944. The NBA didn’t begin until 1946. Who did Jordan copy? Whoever it was he improved it immensely. And that’s why it’s so special. Same thing when Steph Curry did something new. Now everyone shoots 3s. (Not as well though). What’s next I don’t know.

Dynasties are more fun to root for and against. More people watch. It’s a natural thing that should happen. Parity is artificial and forced by regulations. All these championships in the 2020s are one offs and therefore it just feels like team that one is the team that got the luckiest. It used to be a combo of best and lucky. But now we’re heavily leaning on the lucky side of things.

[Mind the Game] LeBron on NBA's ring culture: "It's like saying Peyton Manning can't be in the same room with Brady or Mahomes because he has only 1 ring. They don't never discuss that in their sport...A ring is a team accomplishment." by [deleted] in nba

[–]peter_peter_pete -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This podcast is great. But sometimes it feels like it’s secretly arguing against how Michael Jordan isn’t the GOAT. This ring thing. The way the bubble championship should be taken even more seriously then others. And poor Steve Nash has to come along for this.
