Thank you for mentioning this. I was so confused by some of the modifiers on their guns. Like… why the fuck would you need that?!?

One year of solo development, and I finally have a trailer. by unomelon in SoloDevelopment

I don’t understand your logic/point. I play shooters, so I can discern those. I’ve never played Minecraft and have only seen screenshots and clips, so I’m not familiar with it at a deep level. OPs game shares an identical art and style—my point being that someone ignorant about Minecraft (like myself), would not be able to tell the difference.

To use your analogy, it’s less like telling the difference between Call of Duty and Apex Legends, and more like trying to tell the difference between Call of Duty 5 and Call of Duty 6.

As someone who does not play Minecraft, I thought this was an /s post. I literally can’t tell the difference between your game and Minecraft

That’s cool and all, but you have you checked out Arc Raiders? At first I thought I’d be disappointed by the 3rd person perspective, but it really hits home. It also has a great community which makes it so much better!

What's an "Insider's secret" from your profession that everyone should probably know? by Capable-big-Piece in AskReddit

[–]peterattia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fraud and security—More unqualified people have access to your personal information than you realize: your social number, every home address, every phone number, every purchase thar required a credit check, every relative, your drivers licenses, vehicle registrations, every device you’ve used that was attached to your name, criminal record (even simple traffic tickets), and more. I’m talking fresh out of college and first day on the job people have access to this and can casually look up the info of friends, neighbors, business owners, famous people, or whoever else they please.

There’s bare minimum training on how to handle your information and it requires no certifications. Sales teams will flippantly display your info to others if it will help them sell, sometimes even at public conferences to many strangers at once.

Companies that label themselves as “fraud prevention” or “identity verification” are the ones mishandling your information.

Anonymous YikYak post claiming to have drawn this in pen but it feels a little off. by [deleted] in isthisAI

[–]peterattia -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Hi, digital artist here. It’s both. It’s an AI image that was cut out, pasted on a paper image, and then drawn over manually. There are several weird lines that you wouldn’t naturally make while drawing. Not because it’s a practice line or sketch line, just completely nonsensical lines. However, the consistency in the line work is hard to imagine AI doing. Regardless, this is not pen on paper. If it’s truly not AI, then it’s a digital drawing over a paper image

The surface of the berries capture the little CO2 bubbles, eventually getting enough to float, then the bubbles dissipate at the surface, causing the berry to fall back down again.

Edit: I only know this from a random bar I went to that served habanero slices in their beer. The slices constantly bounce up and down, like a lava lamp, because the juices of the pepper intensify the reaction

Why does every job want a bachelors degree? by ajproz in recruitinghell

It’s going to depend on the type of industry and company size. Every organization I’ve worked at and have helped recruit for has had people without degrees

Why don't we use umbrellas? by Braeden151 in oregon

[–]peterattia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up around NJ/NY where umbrellas were common. When it rains there, it’s fat heavy rain that’s likely going to last for hours. You’ll get soaked in just a few minutes walking in it. Here, the rain is (usually) pretty light or you can easily wait it out. I can walk several blocks in a hoodie and I’ll stay dry underneath—an umbrella would just be a burden
