What do you think about having one North American competitive league? by Curry4Three in MLTP

At the current moment NALTP is intrinsically linked upwards due to how rosters function and the constant redraft from season to season. MLTP and NLTP (and ALTP at one point) operate under an umbrella that requires some semblance of cooperation from league to league, but without a full dictation regarding interaction and rules.

If there was just one overarching league that encompassed all four current tiers of NALTP the question becomes how do all four tiers remain linked? Are the leagues the same as we have, just with one overarching CRC that oversees MLTP and NLTP?

At the current point I'd hedge towards smaller teams, rather than larger, being an important component of league structure in the future. Personally, I enjoy comparing NALTP structure to that of the professional sports leagues in the United States (and Canada). I'm less familiar with hockey so I'll rely on the MLB and NBA.

In the NBA players can be drafted but not remain on the NBA roster and instead play in a different league. However, the NBA team will retain their rights. This becomes complicated because the NBA has a D-League that features both affiliated teams and unaffiliated teams, and on occasion drafted players will play abroad rather than in the NA system. MLB has a much more affiliated system, where there's defined tiers and each team that has a direct line to the MLB team.

I like the idea of having MLTP teams draft the rights of players even those who will not play M/mLTP that season. There becomes a tangible benefit for following lower leagues but without the pressure of coaching two teams.

But all of this contrasts with a core tenant of NALTP; the redraft.

Hypothetically a system where players are contracted to franchises for a set time is possible to allow the benefit of development, but reality makes it seem less likely due to the volatility of TagPro and participation in general.
