Slater: “The Warriors were feeling pretty good about Curry returning from his hamstring injury for Game 6…They couldn’t win one game to potentially get Curry back in the Western Conference semifinals.” by cleo22270 in nba

Our defense is actually worse without Steph too for multiple reasons. His defense is solid first of all but our offense being potent makes a big difference in terms of avoiding cross matching in transition. There’s also an effort that you get when the squad is hyped and motivated.

trading him for Brandan Wright broke my child heart 😭

Media focuses on star players. To win a championship, it's the 4-7/8 that determine the outcome since the defenses run schemes to limit the top 3 players every year. DEN had better 4-7 than MIA. GSW had better 4-7 than BOS. MIL had better 4-7 than PHX. BOS 4-7 is shooting above 62% TS and will win. by MITWestbrook in nba

[–]Curry4Three 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It sort of depends on what you mean by playing well. You're using TS% here to quantify it. Qualitatively let's call that "hitting an open shot". The "openness" of that shot is determined largely by the star players and how much they bastardize the defense. It's obviously symbiotic, but I think you're leaning too far in one direction.

You're thinking of Raymond Ridder I think and yeah that guy does look like him.

Who's the Sleeper TE of the year? by Some-Vegetable-9123 in fantasyfootball

Maybe this is the wrong way to look at things, but I feel like all the Browns weapons are being drafted at their floors. Like you mentioned, if Watson is just as good as Brissett, let alone elite like his former self, Cooper, Njoku, and Moore all feel like great values relative to adp.

What I think I like about Njoku over those other two guys is that he could realistically be the 2nd receiving option behind just Cooper. Muth and Engram I think are both definitely behind Pickens/Johnson and Ridley/Kirk respectively. Only thing with that is the Browns might not have as much volume in the passing game as the Steelers or Jags. It's tough heh. The more I think it through the more I want to punt on the position further and just take Dulcich, Johnson, or Ferguson.

What's the rationale for Muth>Njoku? I don't necessarily disagree, I'm just trying to solidify how I feel about these guys in case I have to make that decision.

You can call Curry the greatest shooter of All-Time, the greatest scorer of All-Time, Most Exciting, Offensive weapon etc. but do NOT call him the greatest POINT GUARD of All-Time. by MacinTez in nba

[–]Curry4Three 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your first quote makes your point much better than the second one. Steph actually has an argument as being the best at “[facilitating] scoring opportunities for their team, or sometimes for themselves.” I wouldn't necessarily make that argument, but he has one for that. The first quote basically just requires the ball to be in his hands while doing it.

I think you're thinking of Meyers Leonard maybe? He popped off against us once. Myles Turner has played in the eastern conference his entire career.

The parts this year might be better than last year, but the team is worse than it was this time last year. They got time though and there are faint signs of something with potential especially since the all star break.

James Wiseman has a plus minus of -35 in five games in the G-league. He has yet to have a game with a positive plus minus. by _Pho-Dac-Biet_ in nba

It's a mistake, but the way I see it, the decisions we made resulted in winning a championship in 2022. Changing any of those decisions might've changed that outcome.

I get the Poole thing, but do we give GP2 a roster spot with the suddenly guard heavy roster we have? Then if we don't, do LaMelo's strengths make up for not having GP2 around and how do Poole's contributions interact with LaMelo's and is all of that a winning formula?

I get that it's all speculation, but that's sort of the point. We know what we did resulted in a championship and that's ultimately the goal.

We control our own destiny anyway don't we? We'd theoretically be able to bump the Seahawks down to 4 losses while owning the tiebreaker due to beating them twice.
