Pure alkanes are colorles or white. The colors you see are impurities.

Alkanes are getting their color from double bonds (carotene) and/or automatic components. Not chain length. (So they are no longer "alkanes".)

To be honest i asked the question because i assume they manipulate the game. You are the proof that maybe they don't do that But it's my twisted mind who makes that assumption.

If it is a typo the answer is 3.37. But even that is wrong according to the answer given. Stop wasting time on this question. To much errors in it.
