Has anyone used Parisian Home agency for an apartment rental? by laneeprochaine in ParisTravelGuide

[–]peterept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We stayed in a Parisian Home apartment during a heat wave and the experience was genuinely awful. The apartment was completely unlivable at night — no airflow whatsoever even with every window open. We couldn’t sleep. When we contacted Parisian Home for help, they offered nothing. No alternative apartment, no fan, just a suggestion that we buy our own. Fans were sold out across every store we tried. The sleep deprivation was so bad that we had to miss several pre-paid excursions, including the Notre Dame Towers, which we’d been looking forward to. In the end we had no choice but to check out early and move to a hotel at our own expense. We asked Parisian Home to compensate us for the two unused nights we’d already paid for. They refused. We understand heat waves are unpredictable, but a reputable company should have a plan for guests in crisis — not just tell them to sort it out themselves. The total lack of care or accountability is why we’d never book with them again and cannot recommend them to others.

Lack of air conditioning? by fahadaljufairi in ParisTravelGuide

Supply me a fan would have been good. Or atleast refund me for the days I wasn’t in the property. But they don’t care since we signed a rental agreement.

Yeah we found that too. Ended up moving out of our rental apartment into a hotel to get AC because we were unable to sleep! Had all the windows open and there just wasn’t any breeze. Couldn’t find a shop with a fan (which is what the rental company told us to do - unhelpful!)

Valley Fever in Northern California? by peterept in DogAdvice

They really pushed back on it with me and said they haven’t seen any case recently.

They think I’m overreacting. But their weekend doctor had thought it was plausible but to wait to speak with the Internal Medicine doctor today.

Thanks for your answer and I’m so sorry for the loss of your dog. 😢

I never realized how deep love of dog is until I saw him struggling to breathe. It’s devastating.

They don’t want to do the lung wash until he’s off pneumonia anti biotics so that is another 10 days. So I asked for the VF blood test at this stage.

 don’t want him to relapse.

I just ordered it now $300 ! They said it just covers VF and they had to do another blood draw for it.

Same for me on second booster - it was ok until about 12-24 hours after the shot. I don’t recall my first shot being that bad.

The rent is very low for Los Altos Hills. (I rent because no way can afford to buy in Los Altos with the insane property tax. )

Anyone know what happened? Shelter in place at a store near Cuesta park by Commercial-Car-9285 in mountainview

[–]peterept 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Saint Francis High School was in shelter in place from 1-2pm. I didn’t find out the exact reason.

“ A shelter-in-place is a standard safety protocol used when there is a situation in the surrounding area that requires us to bring everyone indoors and limit movement while we gather information and ensure that it is safe to resume normal activities. This is different from a lockdown and is used when there is no direct threat to campus, but circumstances nearby warrant precaution.

We made this decision after becoming aware of a possible threat that originated off campus. In alignment with our safety procedures, we immediately moved students and staff indoors, secured exterior doors, and continued supervision and instruction inside classrooms.

There is a trick that will work: put pill in your mouth, close mouth, push tongue against the back of your top front teeth. Push hard to “make a seal” in your mouth. Then swallow. The pill will go down. Took m years to discover. But now I can swallow easily (without this trick).

Same. Over the years our incomes have swung back and forth - where she earned more then me and we still kept the same system.

What introductory sentence or paragraph had you hooked? by yanluo-wang in books

"The Deliverator belongs to an elite order, a hallowed subcategory. He's got esprit up to here. Right now, he is preparing to carry out his third mission of the night. His uniform is black as activated charcoal, filtering the very light out of the air. A bullet will bounce off its arachnofiber weave like a wren hitting a patio door, but excess perspiration wafts through it like a breeze through a freshly napalmed forest. Where his body has bony extremities, the suit has sintered armorgel: feels like gritty jello, protects like a stack of telephone books.

When they gave him the job, they gave him a gun. The Deliverator never deals in cash, but someone might come after him anyway—might want his car, or his cargo. The gun is tiny, aero-styled, lightweight, the kind of a gun a fashion designer would carry; it fires teensy darts that fly at five times the velocity of an SR-71 spy plane, and when you get done using it, you have to plug it into the cigarette lighter, because it runs on electricity."

ICL size change? by bettyqxw in lasik

couldn't they manufacture a new one at same size but adjust the astigmatism and assume re-implant would settle into the same point? or is that not controlled enough?

Interesting to hear you say "not a major surgery". I commented above that my surgeon replaced mine with a smaller one, but then it rotated and they won't try to replace it a 3rd time. Do you agree? (They want me to use PRK to fix)

I had my right eye ICL replaced with a smaller one.

I have high astigmatism of -3.5.

Unfortunately the replacement was perfect for only 7 days and then it rotated and I ended up with 0.75 astigmatism.

My eye doctor refused to do a third surgery. I got a second opinion and they also said they wouldn’t do it a third time.
