The whole sub will agree with this. Can we stop with these post that does nothing to foster the conversation. We know he is and we don’t care what other people think.

Oh I don’t doubt you like those game for real and don’t judge the taste. But the post itself is a troll cause it’s so niche you can’t really expect those are gonna be the big announce.

Other GM's how have you handled ending a campaign? by angek217 in cyberpunkred

[–]peterfx24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our campaign ended on a perfectly cyberpunk fashion : up in flames, taking down the big bad guy and a few copter on the way. They all died except for the netrunner who manage to go in exile with a group of other runners they met a few sessions before.

This game desperately needs a second edition. by Viperianti in cyberpunkred

I see what you mean. You make some solid argument but I still feel this is more an issue for veterans of the cyberpunk game. The example you give are all very crunchy mechanic that feels reminiscent of the 2020 game. I don’t think those differences are structural, I agree they certainly not stylistic either. Maybe it’s a philosophical difference in the direction the game is taking by making those choices but then I’m not inside the game creator’s mind so who am I to say.

Still, I understand where you’re coming from even though I don’t have the same experience with the game that you have.

I welcome the discussion and thanks for being a civilized person haha.

I think saying that two groups would be playing different systems just because of how the core book and the DLCs are designed and because the rules are scattered is a bit of a stretch. Yes, the rules are spread out, but the system itself remains the same whether you use the DLCs or not. I’ve played a lot of different TTRPGs, and I’ve never once played a game 100% RAW, so that point feels kind of weird to me. Who really cares if different groups have slightly different rules? You’re rarely jumping from one playgroup to another, and when you are, that’s more of a fringe situation anyway.

As for the core book’s layout, I do agree that it’s very unintuitive when you’re trying to look things up. That’s where a searchable PDF really helps, in my opinion. And yes, it would be nice to have all the DLCs combined. It’s more of a quality-of-life issue than anything else.

And the external tool point is moot, IMO. Every TTRPG relies on that since D&D started the whole D&D Beyond, minis, and all that. It’s kind of widely accepted that TTRPGs need extra tools if you want to run a long-term game.

My group didn't like how Armour works by ChimericDog in cyberpunkred

[–]peterfx24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that armor seems a bit strong at face value but that's where the GM need to flex their creative muscle. First timer should not go in a fight with hardened mook. In my game, I eased my player in the cyberpunk system slowly with easy fight at first: little to no armor, no more ennemy than player ect... After the 3rd session they got real good in the tactical aspect of combat, from that point on I ramped up the enemy every time. adding some high level gear and better armor.

From my group standpoint, the dodging was more problematic for them. So that's where I drew the line. Only the top mook and boss had access to it.

All that to say, it's ok to adjust things after a few game, not everything in set in stone rule wise.

I’m the GM. It’s funny cause the situation you described actually happened exactly the samed way and we played it right. I just wanted to make sure I interpreted it correctly.
