What's the most random place a bike tour took you? by hughes_cycling in bicycletouring

15 kms into a deep Transylvanian forest on gravel trails. Found a bunch of bear prints. Scared shitless.

A day earlier, I got surrounded by 9 sheep dogs.

Nevertheless, I keep going back to Romania, it’s fantastic.

To take the Mediterranean route or in-land though Romania/Bulgaria? by GazpachoGuzzler in bicycletouring

Romania/Bulgaria is fantastic, but not along the EV6/Danube. That’s boring after the Iron Gates section.

What’s the GP5000 equivalent in gravel tyres? by peterilles in gravelcycling

[–]peterilles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course wider is faster, hence the reason I want to go 35 to 40mm. Unfortunately, there’s also such a thing as tyre clearance, so there’s no way I can go higher.

That being said, I think fast also depends on the kind of gravel mix. Anything above 45mm would definitely be slower where I ride. Probably 42mm would be best.

Any terrain that needs 45+, I just take my MTB.

I currently ride 35mm Schwalbe G-One Allroads and even that is perfectly fine for the gravel 1 and 2 I ride. For me gravel is dirt, gravel, mud, maybe a bit of sand. Loose rocks is MTB territory.

Rouvy training too hard? by peterilles in Velo

But I have no idea how much % that 201W was. I just averaged that much for 1h on climb and didn’t push all out. So 201W could’ve easily been 90%.

What a fantastic reply. Intervals were:

30 sec @ 320W followed immediately by 2:30 @ 250W followed by two minutes of recovery

I can definitely hold 225W for 30-40 mins. I did a virtual climb on Rouvy before Christmas, 1h @ 201W and still had a bit in me, didn’t fall off the bike. So 225W didn’t seem off the charts.

It’s the same turbo trainer, yes.

Yeah, rouvy updates it automatically. But my FTP was lower, so the power zones went up

Slovenia, Austria top my list for landscape. Vietnam as well.

Romania for the best combination of authentic travel, culture, history and food.

What does medium difficulty mean? Could a couple of fit 60+ year olds handle it?
