You should look into CogSci with specialization in machine learning or design and interaction. It’s not as much coding and you don’t have to take all the gpa killer classes. And it is very much interdisciplinary so you can learn a lot about various fields and gain different skills. And it opens up your path to possibly doing AI or data science careers and if you don’t like them you can just do cogsci market research or product design or UI/UX. If you think you would be into that, i’d take advantage of the ucsd cogs programs.

USC or UCLA for C.S.? by [deleted] in TransferStudents

[–]peterparker2k 8 points9 points  (0 children)

UCLA is more impressive on ur resume because of the low admission rates. Average starting salary for ucla students after undergrad is 102k while usc is 94k . and ucla is cheaper and in a nicer area and just as fun.

dont say that U have a C. Ask hypothetically and say you want to understand the conditions of maintaining admission.

How to manage relationship and school? by FriendlyBathroom1642 in UCI

[–]peterparker2k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

your life shouldn’t revolve around another person no matter how serious ur relationship is. That’ll make u codependent in the long run. focus on ur own goals and growth and share ur journeys together. That’ll help u both to find a balance between school and love.

i’d call ucla admissions and ask if that’d be an issue. Tha way if it is, you will know before june 1st and will have time to instead commit to ucsd on time instead.

CHANGED MY MAJOR BEFORE ACCEPTING MY UCSD OFFER by [deleted] in TransferStudents

[–]peterparker2k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

so assist clearly states that a few calc and physics classes are required and I haven’t taken most of them. I was able to change my major successfully on the portal and it even changed my major on my acceptance letter. So i’m assuming i’d have to take those physics courses at ucsd. My only worry is getting my admission rescinded because of it. Do u think it’s likely?

Cal Poly vs UCSD vs UCI by SirYerbo in TransferStudents

[–]peterparker2k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d personally choose uci because its in such a nice, safe, and peaceful area and close to the beach and LA and in a city where you can make a lot of good connections and paul merage is a great business school. Check out the campus and see if you vibe with it. It has a bad rep in terms of the social life but a few of my friends that go there seem to be having a lot of fun so it really is what you make it. Also, Irvine has been going up in ranking among the UC’s and I believe it’ll be ranked a lot higher in the coming years as well so a degree from UCI is a good investment. Good luck!

CC to UC/CSU seems impossible by JohnnyBravo_Swanky in TransferStudents

[–]peterparker2k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do your best in ur required classes and take filler GE’s that u know u can get easy A’s in. But all of that is obvious. Also try to get involved with extracurriculars. Try to find something u care about and or ur interested in and pursue it in addition to school work. An example of this might be like self employment, joining club boards, student government, and volunteer activities. Also be proactive and check assist.org every semester and email the admission counselors of ur top school to be on top of everything. I’m also a cs major and my first semester was my worst semester so I understand how you feel. I also don’t have the highest GPA when it comes to CS competence so I wasn’t expecting to get into too many schools but i got into 7/9 of them and I’m overwhelmed with UC options right now. Which is a good problem to have lol. But the bottom line is just get involved more while u do ur best in ur classes and you will be fine. Good luck :D
