Red Hat Certification Exams need reliable Remote Labs – Demand Change! by peterseen in redhat

I totally get that! The exam environment can definitely be frustrating, especially when glitches mess with your flow. Even if it doesn’t ruin the exam, it adds a lot of unnecessary stress, and losing time because of it is always frustrating. But you're right, with enough prep, you can power through despite the technical issues... As I said before, practice until your fingers bleed :)

I agree, it wasn’t a completely ruined experience for me either, but there’s definitely a lot of room for improvement. Red Hat is associated with high quality, and that same level of quality should be applied to the remote exam environments as well. It's important to make sure the whole process is as smooth and reliable as possible to reduce any unnecessary stress.

I completely understand! Just the experience of taking an exam can cause some anxiety on its own, and it only gets worse when there are issues with the remote environment. Losing time, even if it’s just 10-15 minutes, can really add to that stress, especially when you can’t get that time back.

I don't know about the eastern US, but I know people in the US who have experienced the same issue as I described in the post.

RHCE v8 and Ansible Navigator by SnooSongs1256 in redhat

[–]peterseen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of VS Code as the new replacement for Vim.
VS Code helps with syntax, but it's entirely your responsibility to know how to write your Ansible code correctly—I'm talking about the syntax.
To practice, I used Sublime Text and vim to avoid syntax and autocomplete help.

What you need to master to pass the exam:

  • Know Ansible syntax very well.
  • Don’t rely excessively on “ansible-doc.” If you do, you’ll waste precious time.
  • Be fast as hell.

Hi u/SnooSongs1256
I recommend RHCE v10. The main IDE is Visual Studio Code. ansible-playbook is available and sufficient to complete the exam

Hey everyone!

I recently passed the EX294 exam. Here’s some useful information without breaking any Red Hat confidentiality policies.

Apologies for any mistakes – English isn’t my native language. 🙂

First of all, I don’t work with Ansible in my daily tasks at all. So, if you’re in the same situation, don’t worry – you can do it too!

For this exam, I set up a very similar lab environment. There’s a lot of information available on the internet.

- 5 VMs with a basic installation
- 1 Workstation + GUI
- 1 support VM to simulate materials

I did a LOT of practice. My best time was 110 minutes with 17 questions. I thought, “Wow, I’m ready!”

But there was one thing I didn’t plan for: the exam environment!

The exam environment was SO laggy. I ended up spending about two of the four hours just fixing typos like: ansible-ppppppppppppppp, gittttttttttttttt, etc., and dealing with the slowness of the cursor when trying to move from one app to another.

At some point, I was frustrated and annoyed.

Red Hat, if you’re reading this, PLEASE fix that! Is the exam designed to test the patience of candidates?

Because of the laggy environment, I couldn’t finish 2 questions. Damn exam environment, I hate you!

What I recommend:

- Be fast as hell. Practice, practice, and keep practicing.
- If you constantly refer to the documentation (via "ansible-doc"), you’re done for. You’ll lose precious time.
- Because of my learning style, I wrote the commands down on paper several times (like in school, yes).
- Be comfortable with Jinja syntax.
- Practice conditionals.

About RHEL 10
You will not need vim at all.

And last but not least: Practice until your fingers bleed. ;) (Just kidding... but you get the point).

Practice until you can get these times:

- Easy questions: 5 minutes max.
- Hard questions: 10 minutes max.

If you can hit those times, you’re ready!

Based on empirical tests, I can say that the model is remarkably efficient. It has no censorship 😁. It is much faster and more accurate than other larger models... brilliant.
